I just took delivery of a STAG complete lower from www.lanworldinc.com. I am very impressed by Chris's no-hassle service and his willingness to support CA gun ownership, especially the "controversial guns" - Off List Lower AR15s and Off List Saiga rifles.

The STAG is an exact mil-spec lower with all parts already installed including trigger group and buffer assembly. Price was $245.00 and INCLUDED & INSTALLED FREE the Monster Man Grip to make the gun California Legal. I opted not to use the bullet button or prince 50 since the legality of both is becoming rather unclear and I'd rather stay as clearly legal as possible. I also much prefer being able to detach the magazine as opposed to keeping it locked. This is not to say that the Prince 50 or BB is an unwise choice. I am aware that many people include LEOs are using them and I have yet to hear of someone convicted of an AW violation while using either. Indeed, the recent San Jose case much popularized the Forums seems to suggest that the Prince50 is quite legal.

In any case, Chris handled the transaction VERY professionally, and did not charge extra for Credit Card use or my 9 phone calls to him.

If you live in CA and are worried about an impending AW Ban you would do well to get a RAA (must be RAA or EAA) Saiga and a MMG STAG. Both are very high quailty firearms that are CERTAIN to be on any future ban list and can quickly be converted to "evil configuration should the laws change one day to allow this (or you move). One should also get a few Saiga magazines as they are proprietary and may be banned in the next round of legislation as well.

RAA Saiga 7.62x39: $265
STAG OLL w/ MMG: $245

I kinda hate to disappoint you but Ca already has bans that in my opinion are unconstitutional, but what do I know, I bought guns there that are banned and illegal now. You need to be out working on repeals rather than " whats coming" Or better yet do I did over 25 years ago and get the heck outa that place. For a buncha more reasons than just guns.

To me that just looks too weird to have on an AR, or any rifle for that matter. Personally I rather put that $245 towards my "out of CA relocation fund" but if you don't have such a plan then I'd buy rifles that are already compliant, such as the Saiga. I'll give Stag credit, its an interesting idea but I just couldn't own an AR that looks like that.

just my ¢2

Y'all don't get it.

The grip you see is just screwed on where the normal grip would go. The way the law works, you put that grip on it, and an otherwise illegal AR becomes legal. (There are a bunch of other little hoops to jump through, but that's the biggie.)

When the next Federal AWB goes into effect, we'll have grandfathered guns, and we can put regular pistol grips on them in other states, if we leave CA.

Some of us have lives, aren't retired or working as bartenders, and can't just up and move with $250 without a major loss in quality of life. We still want to get these guns while we can, and these are legal ways that don't require us to move.

You wouldn't want ALL of us to move to Prescott tomorrow, would you?:)

BTW is there a good way I can get Cowboy Dave's hot sauce without going to Prescott?

You really gotta applaud the effort that went into designing that grip system.

Ahhh I had to re-read the original description, the entire lower is $245, thats a better deal. For some reason I thought just that one piece was $245, that will teach me to read slower. I guess if it makes your AR compliant why not, I retract my original statement, I think its worth it. That way if you ever do decide to move you can just replace the grip with a standard pistol grip and keep the stock. I would still need to hold it to see how it feels, where does one place their thumb on that?:scrutiny:

True, we already have enough people moving to the area as it is. I have to agree if you've got it good in CA don't move just for the sake of your guns. But its too bad they have to be so strict about them, I love going to California! Especially the area around Monterey and San Francisco, so beautiful! I'd move there in a second if it wasn't so dang expensive to live there and I didn't have to leave half of my gun collection behind:( The job market is certainly better there!

BTW is there a good way I can get Cowboy Dave's hot sauce without going to Prescott?
Not sure I thought they would have a website but I couldn't find one. Maybe you have to track down there number and give them a call, I'm sure they'd ship you some. I'll look into it for you and send you a messege if I find out anything.

If you need to buy two rifles in the PRK, then buy two SKSs, couple of cases of ammo and several dozen stripper clips.

M1A and Garand and AR and you are well on your way... a saige marked RRA is not a bad thing either...

I would still need to hold it to see how it feels, where does one place their thumb on that?

I have never seen one of those things- I'm blessed enough to live in the other People's Republik- Connecticut, so our AR's only need to meet 1994 standard and not say AR-15 on them.

It appears thoough that your thumb would rest in the groove at the top of the grip on the side of the rifle common to the hand holding the rear of the rifle.

saigas are banned by the manufacturer "Kalishnakov USA" since the new ones are marked Izmash or RRA; they're not restricted by the no-no list- same goes with these AR-15 patterned rifles;

Course, after the name list is bypassed, there's the second set held by evil features.

Allure of the Saiga is that it's based off an AK action and accepts detachable mags; not that an SKS isnt fun too

You mean, you hope there's a grandfather clause.

Better to fight against the ban before it happens.

Did you get an ambi safety with the MonsterMan Grip? Also, when you build up your Stag with the MMG, you cannot have a vertical foregrip nor a flashhider. With the Bullet Button, you can have those as well as the normal pistol grip and a telescoping or thumbhole stock, if you so desire. In other words, buy another lower receiver. If a ban comes like you suspect, you'll be glad you did.

Regardless, let us know how the MMG works out for you when you build up the AR.

Chris at www.lanworldinc.com. is a stand up guy. I am ordreing a Stag AR 15 M4 with monsterman grip fixed stock and detachable magazine and muzzle brask in lew of a Flash supressor. I already have many 20 & 30 round preban pre1994 mags.

I have spoken with him several times and am happy to make referrals. You can feel confident in purchasing from him espically if you live in CA.

Does anyone know the the difference is betwen a muzzle break and Flash supressor? My M1A has a muzzle Break for CA legalities. Is it just symantics?

Chris and www.lanworldinc.com is located in the great state of Utah.

THe OP makes me think of the close of the California tourism promotion ad where Clint Eastwood says "Do you feel lucky? Well do ya?" to which I can honestly say "Yessir, I do, I don't have to put ridiculous stuff on my rifle."

I agree.

However, we are talking about Russian-made AK's here. It won't take much of a "ban" to stop imports of Saigas, just some import-export "decisions".

MM Grip, Cal AR's, etc.

California guy here and new poster so hello all.

The Monster Man grip is a viable alternative to the standar AR pistol grip. It does look funny but works fine; more akin to a standard rifle stock in operation except that you can't wrap your thumb over the top. Otherwise, it provides good control for accuracy. It's not optimum for the AR ergonomics but, for my tastes, it beats the Cal legal alternatives such as the fixed mag options. They truly are abortions of the AR design, IMHO.

I just finished an AR build with JP upper, CMMG lower, A2 stock and the MMG. She shoots fine and handles well. Friends with registered AW's who have shot her don't find fault with the grip.

The Monster Man grip was invented by a California entrepeneur to help us get around the legal burdens that you in the free states don't face. If you aren't aware of the struggles we endure to keep the commie yolk off our necks then count your blessings.:)

I moved out of CA about 15 years ago, but family circumstances might require me to return sometime in the coming few years. Since I left CA, I've purchased several guns including an AR-15. Will it matter that I purchased these guns legally if I bring them back to CA?

I don't want to get into any sticky areas here, but is there even any process when moving to a state that requires you to tell any authorities what guns you own?

I know my handguns needed to be registered, but the rifles and shotguns were just a background check phone call. Is there any limit in CA on how many guns you can own, or any special restrictions on magazine capacities, etc?

Also, I guess it's unrealistic for me to expect getting a carry perimt in CA is going to take the same five minutes and $26.00 it takes to get one from the local Sheriff's office in my town?

Thanks.

Will it matter that I purchased these guns legally if I bring them back to CA?

Nope. You will be a felon if you bring them back. Doesn't matter how you bought them. There are ways to have an AR in CA, but they're a bit complicated and the guns will be crippled somewhat. Chances are the guns you own are illegal to bring in. Anything with a detachable magazine and separate pistol grip (AR, AK, etc.) is illegal to bring in, at least in that configuration.

http://www.calguns.net

"OLL" means "Off-List Lower" and is the beginning of what you'd need to do.

s there any limit in CA on how many guns you can own, or any special restrictions on magazine capacities, etc?

You can own as many guns as you want. You can bring long guns into the state without telling anyone, unless they are "assault weapons" by law. If they are, you can't legally bring them in at all. If you're asking, most of your collection is probably illegal.

No magazines over 10 rounds, either detachable or permanently part of the gun, may be brought into the state, except for fixed tubular magazines on rimfire and lever action centerfire guns, which can be larger. There may be a few exceptions for antiques, but not many.

Semiauto shotguns with detachable magazines are illegal to bring into the state.

Also, I guess it's unrealistic for me to expect getting a carry perimt in CA is going to take the same five minutes and $26.00 it takes to get one from the local Sheriff's office in my town?

ROTFLMAO

There are some, mostly rural, counties where you can get a carry permit, with higher fees than that. In most of the state, forget about getting a carry permit at all, ever.

WOW what a tough state to live in (CA), I have two sister-in-laws that live in CA and not sure my Native Texan rear end could handle the difference between TX and CA firearms law. For those of you in CA my hat is off to you, not an easy place to be if your like certain firearms.
