For M&P lovers!

I have to admit - it's sort of a love affair I have with my M&P .40. I mean the moment I picked it up I thought, "Where has this been all my life?". What I can't stand is to walk around the gun shops and ranges in the Atlanta Metro-Area (Glock Factory in Smyrna, GA like 15 minutes down I-75 S) listening to all these Glock nuts. I know it's bad elsewhere too, but it's really bad in ATL. So, what do I do - stump about my M&P at every turn. I'm sure secretly we are both listening to each other hating every word coming out of the other's mouth. Not much common ground between the "sides".

But I digress, I picked-up my M&P during the initial launch, scored it for less than $500. Can't much do that anymore from what I can see. I've put 5,000 rounds+ through it and it only gets better with age. I love it so much I actually like cleaning it! Anyway - keep supporting the M&P - might as well be us drowning out the Glock chatter. Both the 9mm and .40 shoot like a dream...

M&P 9fs and M&P 9c, the compact is a much better shooter then the full size, for me.

I mean the moment I picked it up I thought, "Where has this been all my life?"

My feelings exactly. My introduction came by happenstance when I asked an unusually knowledgeable gun store guy for an alternative to Glocks (we were looking for a gun for my wife who doesn't shoot Glocks well). He recommended the M&P line and the rest is history. I looked it over and thought how similar it is to the gun I would design myself. So now my wife and I favor M&Ps.

I also love the M&P. I have a full size 40 that shoots as well as more expensive handguns. It was smooth right out of the box, and I wouldn't think of changing a thing on it. Runs without a flaw everytime I shoot it.....and that's often. Wish I had a source for free ammo!

45c

My new M&P 45c loads a round by itself when I have the slide locked back and slam a full mag in....I don't slam too hard but not easy also...I did call S&W Customer Support and they said it is normal....it shoots great but my other 45s don't do it...I'm old school maybe its ok but I cannot get use to it yet....

My M&P Pro 5" is my favorite pistol I've ever owned. I originally bought it for plate shoots but now find myself shooting it more than anything else. After the first 500 rounds I installed the full Apex Tactical competition kit. The thing in a damn laserbeam. Out of the box I shot it just as well as my $2500 match grade 1911, and now I shoot it even better. Love it, and I'll keep it forever...

I recently picked up my first bottom feeder in almost 20 years. I'm not sure why but I got the itch for a M&P 45 so I scratched it.

My wife had a M&P9 Compact for a short while a few years ago.

After years of CZs and Glocks, we wanted to see what the buzz was about with the M&Ps.

We found that it was both reliable and accurate, along with being a real soft shooter.

I carried it for a few weeks, shot it some and took these pics.

It fed every 9mm load I could throw into it!

She later sold it and got a yet another G19 instead.

That said.

When we started playing around with the .357 Glocks, I remembered
being so impressed with the M&P that I just had to have one of the
now discontinued M&P 357 Compacts.

Well, the trigger seems to be smoothing out and it could use some
Nites, but shoots very soft and sweet so far.

Both top professionals and state troopers, along with other former die-hard Glock fans and owners have made the switch to the M&P.

The .357C is bigger and heavier than the Glock 33 and my RAMIs
but I sure don't miss the stupid lever in the Glock's trigger that
sometimes pinches my finger, or the DA pull of the RAMI when I
shoot the M&Ps.

I have no need for the full sized gun but like the idea of the M&P 22
and the M&P15 Sport or Tactical.

Better than a Glock or CZ? Probably not. Just a newer design that is
catching on quickly around the world.

I bought one recently and love it. It's a very accurate and reliable (not picky with ammo) gun that very closely mimics my FS M&P9.

As they said, this is a intentional design aspect of the M&P line. It is designed to speed up reloads.

They still say in the manual that it only happens when you slam the mag too hard.

Very nice .22 there.

I did not know they were full sized guns.

I hope they come out with a compact version in .22 as well, and make more magazines. Gotta get some more magazines. :D

Hmmm... I'm seriously considering picking up a second M&P... I shoot my Pro more than any other gun I own... Anyone own both the 9mm Pro 5" AND the standard M&P 9...?

After my experience years ago with a sigma I was very hesitant to purchase a new M & P. I bought one of the M & P 22's and have thoroughly enjoyed it. It is probably one of my favorite guns to shoot and I've only found one type of ammo it does not shoot consistantly. For some reason the Winchester hypervelocity ammo does not shoot well at all. Everything else I've tried works fine. Now I'm seriously considering purchasing one of the 9mm or .40 caliber M & P's.

The manuals words are "excessive upward force". For my pistol, and the 3 other M&Ps that I have shot, this has meant a firm seating of the magazine. I feel like it is an intended design aspect, or they would have fixed it.

what kind of paint did you use on the slide to make the words stick out in white?

Who? Me? It came like that. I prefer it to not be painted though, and might black it out in the future. I think it takes away from what limited aesthetics polymer guns have.

Perhaps. My 4 have yet to do it once, and I seat the magazines firmly. To me it seems like something that shouldn't be relied upon to happen 100% and thus shouldn't be part of one's defensive gun handling technique. In competition I guess it doesn't matter.

I completely agree, and if my M&P only did it every once in a while then I would be concerned because I wouldn't know if it would work or not.

In my case, it works every time, so I do rely on it. In your case, it hasn't so you get to train just as if it were any other semi-automatic pistol.

I don't mind if mine automatically releases the slide or not as long as it is consistent.

I have a 9c bought in 08. It always grouped high and to the right and I attributed it to my being a new shooter, until I read that the gun got a "F" review on "Gun Tests". Well, I sent it back to smith for repair of a dead trigger as well as installation of night sights, which I hoped would correct the problem. Well, now I'm shooting silver dollar sized groups and 10+ yards and the dead trigger problem appears to be solved. It has replaced my Kimber 1911 as my EDC for this winter. I like the weight, the ergonomics and the accuracy. My confidence is restored.

I am considering a compact 45, anyone with experience? Recoil? Reliability?

Picked one up today.. Know nothing about them. Never even considered it till I picked it up today and its my first plastic gun ever. (Thats saying something!!!)
