Texas, baby!
I will admit, I am possessed by the mach 2 right now. i also like the fact you can shoot 17 aggies through it, or 17pmc, or if you can find them 17 high standards, which are no longer made. i am currently testing out 3 diff rifles in mach 2; n.e.f., marlin 917 in laminate stainless, and savage mkII , pencil bbl, syth stock. I have also fired all the diff makes of ammo. Remember , all bullets are made by cci/hornady. CCI loads hornie, feddies, and CCi, while Eley loads eley, and remmies. but they are all slighty diff, using diff powders, and primer types, so you have to test them all, to see which your hog will like best; typical of rimfire.
The 17 aggies are a bit diff, using a 20 grain solid, jacketed round, getting about 1900 fps out of a 24 in bbl. They may or may not be accurate in the rifle you have, again, you will have to test. I suspect , because of chamber types and bbl design, that on the low end, the 17 aggie will work best in marlins. then on high end rifles, any rifle with the tightest tolerance. But again, that is just a theory of mine, I will try to do some more testing tommorrow, weather permitting here in Houston.
As far as game work, they are great, because they do very little expansion, they rarely if ever , come apart, and they tend to drill a hole through one side , and stop, or drill the hole completely through, which is nice , if you like to keep skins. I have not finished testing my 3 rifles yet, the latter two I have now broken in , which took about 3 hrs., and just started testing the marlin. I am using the same scope on all of them. All the n.e.f. groups were within 1 inch, with all the ammo, and this was a horrid day for testing. Couldn't get my bags right, couldn't get my height right, never felt stable, wind is 20 mph from the rear, so it is blowing me and my back, all over the place, cold , and drizzly all day. Eley had the tightest groups, yet the biggest flyers. Go figure.
started on the marlin , took about 10 shots to zero, after I took the glass off of the n.e.f. and after the last zeroing shot, I put 5 shots in about 3/8 ths of an inch! very nice. Then I guess my bbl heated up, as I was not timing the shots at all, since I was in such a hurry , to first break in the latter two rifles, then start testing. Shots started stringing up , and to the right, guess the left channel of the laminate was pressing against it, cuz that was the only decent group I shot from it. So I will have to go home and start sanding.
Once I am done testing out the mach 2 ammo, I will do the 17 aggies, and let you know what I find out. By the way, the n.e.f. has a trigger job done by the boys at precision rifle works, they are fab! It is about 11 ounces. The marlin has no trigger job, pull feels like it is about 8 lbs, yech!!! but no creep , so that is good. Will have to fix that , though.

American shooting centers, best range anywhere. shoots shotgun range , trap, skeet, sporting clays, and walking lanes; pistol,7 to 25 yds, then ranges go from 50 yds, to 600. also shoot IPSC in the different pits, every tuesday night, I think.
Far west houston, follow westheimer, all the way out, past hwy6, stay in right lane, turn right at the light to go up and over the levee. they will be down on the right, a couple of miles.

awesome, I've been meaning to check them out and I'm dying to shoot my AK since I buzzed off that thing that causes trigger slap. May head out there tomorrow then. I thought nothing was open on Sunday though

so that place is 225$ a year and you can go anytime they're open and shoot with no fees? That is awesome =)
