This is my first stock mod (assuming attachment works)

Removed "semi pistol grip" sanded to bare wood, stained with tobacco stain made from "chaw" tobacco soaked in ammonia for a week or two and finished with clear kiwi shoe polish.

I later put the rifle back in a carbine stock, mounted slingswivels & GI canvas sling and Tech-sights to use in an Apple seed class and have since added an ancient Ramline exteneded mag release I had in an old "box'o'junk" some one gave me.

I liked the 1894 winny look of the dehorned stock and really enjoyed the tinkering.

I plan to find another carbine stock and dehorn and shorten it amking a flipflop based pink butt pad, and painting thewood pink for my girl-child. Considering thining the forstock down and keeping the stock tip without the band.

Thanks for sharing guy! Keep them coming!:)
Really Nice designs you people have!

I am trying to decide if I want to refinish the lower gun's stock. Original owner "weather proofed" it with some sort of spray on clear coat. I fear that my cleaning it up ad refinidhing might case it to loose some of those interesting wood patterns.

Other than stock work that one is staying stock.

Nuts wrong picture.

This makes for a very smooth light trigger. I used a safety pin.
I enjoyed the time I have spent on the rifle. With CCI mini mags I can get 1/2" at 50 yards.

Some of these 10/22s cannot even be called 10/22s anymore.

When you replace the stock, receiver, barrel, and trigger, what is left that actually makes it a Ruger?

i don't have a 10/22.... yet but if i had one it would be dressed in a bullpup body. there are some pretty cool airsoft body ones out there that have been modded to fit.

you do have a point but according to the atf the reciever is what makes it a 10/22, everything else doesn't matter.

Even if we use an aftermarket receiver, will still call them 10/22's. The only part of my LTR that Ruger made is the bolt, that was then accurized by Rimfire Tech. It's still a "10/22".

This is my one and only 10/22. I guess you could call it a 10/22 M1 Carbine.

RugCarb1.jpg

I found the M1 Carbine stock for $15. I had to Dremil out some wood and glass bed the stock so the barrel and receiver would fit.

The only other parts that aren't stock are the Tech-sights and the recoil buffer. I also added a couple coats of BLO to the stock.

Man, is she fun to shoot and way more accurate than I am!

So, I'm looking around for 10/22 stock ideas and I see this M1 Carbine stock! Wow - congrats on the one of the best looking 10/22 out there! I wish I had woodworking skills!

Haven't done any mods on mine yet but I'd like to add a folder and a compact 4x scope.
Then I'd like another with Tech-Sights.

30" GM barrel with custom double-helical fluting, PC trigger/hammer internals, and custom stock.

All stock here, except the extended mag release.....Even the wood, courtesy of Ruger.

That is great Tiger stripe!!!!!!!!!

When I walked into the gun shop that day I had no intentions to buy a 10/22.....Guy behind the counter says "man check out this 10/22 I just unpacked, I have never seen one like this before"....... Me :what: sold! :D

Then he says, "I should keep it for myself". :cuss: lol

Mine is pretty simple.
Green Mountain 16" fluted threaded heavy barrel
Hogue stock
Volquartsen hammer, springs, auto bolt release, bolt buffer
B&C extended mag release
Mueller APV Scope (was a Tasco, then Simmons, then Weaver K4 until recently, old scopes in the pics)
