For those of you that pocket carry... what do you do when you get in your vehicle? Do you take your CCW out of your pocket or leave it in? Other options (besides having another CCW already in the vehicle)? I know many of you would suggest IWB carry so this would not be so much of an issue, but I'm interested in the practices of those who only carry in their pocket.

Usually, I leave the gun in my pocket. When wearing my 5.11 vest, I'll put it into the left-side concealment pocket. That isn't an ideal solution, though, because the pocket is huge, and the gun can shift around. It does, though, make tthe gun more accessible than in my pants pocket.

The closest to ideal would be a holster attached to the car seat or console in a discreet location, but you still have the problem of shifting the gun without others seeing it.

I leave it my pocket. Probably not the best idea from a tactical standpoint. Like getting at your wallet at a fast food joint, it would take some contorting to draw.

If I'm traveling any appreciable distance, I keep a full size pistol somewhere in the car in a discreet but easy to access location. My little J-frame would be a BUG to the larger, more capable gun in that case.

In cooler weather, I carry a compact or full size 1911 IWB.

Around town and daily errands in the summer, I just keep the gun in my pocket. There has never been a carjacking in my neck of the woods. First sign of trouble and I'm just leaving rubber on the pavement as I depart to a safer location and if need be, a car can serve as a potent weapon if I'm still behind the wheel.

Along the same lines, how do the people that primary carry in the pocket get to their gun with their off hand? I was experimenting with pocket carry with my J-Frame and this one left me scratching my head.

I remove it from the pocket and place it in the Kel-Tec black bag that it came in. It has a strap on the back that slides down the seatbelt buckle thingy and I put it in there with the grip sticking out. It holds it in place and its easy to get to.

Below is a pic of the bag that it came in so you can get an idea of what Im talking about.

:) Wear 511 tactical pants. Right (strong) side pocket can ccw a P9 or PM9, while the left (weak) side thigh pocket can hold an R9S next to a Fox LABS 2OZ oc. Left thigh pocket accessible while driving.

I leave it in my pocket. I often carry a second full-size "car gun" that is quickly accessable from the drivers seat. Generally, a P95, S&W 586, or 1911.

I leave my KelTec in the pocket...It's so small and light, I forget it's there sometimes.

It's a backup gun anyway. I'll usually remove my primary and stick it beside the seat.

Leave it in my pocket. If I'm worried I stick it under my leg.

Short drive: leave it in my pocket.
Long drive: put it in the center console.

I wish I could have a full-size somewhere in the car, but I can't have a gun in the car at work, so it's better not to get into that habit.

In both my car and truck I have a split bench seat. If I just have my pocket S&W 642 I take it and my pocket holster out of my pocket and slip it between the two portions of the seat. If I have my Glock 36 with me also, the pocket gun stays in the pocket and I slide the Glock between the seats.

I always leave my Kel Tec 380 in my pocket.
I always have a couple other guns in the cars and truck.

I have one of those map pockets behind the front passenger seat that I keep a full size gun in. It is completely invisible from outside and I can pull it out in less then a second. I prefer to leave my pocket gun on my person.

I leave mine in my pocket but I often have a "larger" gun in the car. Actually when I get into a vehicle I prefer a revolver. (No ejected casings bouncing around inside to distract me.)
