For those here who have removed the ILS from their S&W I have a question. My question is is it best to just remove the locking "flag" and leave the other parts in? As they are pressed into the frame and held by spring tension, are they likely to go anywhere?

For those who have disabled the ILS by simply removing the flag, have you had any issues with the other lock pieces becoming dislodged and causing a problem?

nothing there about removing the lock, just some obsessive compulsive cosmetic stuff to fill the hole in the frame if you remove all of the locking mechanism. I know there are a few videos on youtube that go through the process step by step and are very well made.

Just grind the "nub" down that engages the flag and leave everything in place. Even if the spring does break and the ILS tries to get you killed nothing will happen to the revolver, it will remain functional.

Iggy - Some neater hole solutions on that thread than my own little epoxy fill, but it does the job.
