For under $200, couldn't say no.

The ORIGINAL Sigma EARNED it's reputation as a POS, they were truly one of the worst guns ever made. The originals were only made for a year or so and had all sorts of problems.

I bought one and it went back to S&W 3 times, and I never made it through a box of ammo. The gun simply wouldn't reset and fire after 4-5 shots were fired through it. This was about the time they introduced the 2nd gen pistols and they were heavily discounting the originals. The whole ordeal took about 5 months. After the 3rd failure I returned it and insisted on a replacement with one of the newer 2nd gen pistols.

S&W agreed, and when the new gun showed up, I took the unfired gun back to the shop where I bought the 1st one. The shop owner allowed me exactly what I paid for the 1st gun in trade for a Glock.

By all accounts the later guns are much improved. But the whole ordeal left a bad taste in my mouth, and I could never bring myself to try another.

I ASSUME the new SD pistols are very similar to the Sigma. But I have no experience with those. Never heard anything bad about them either.
Mine works well and hasn't given me any issues.

I've owned a couple of them over the years. One of those guns that come and go around here. I always liked them, but they were good trade bait. The first one was an SW9VE (I think....I'm old and coming down with CRS). After I got it all I read about them was how bad they were. I didn't think so. The only malfunctions I ever had with mine were from the very first box of 9mm I ammo I reloaded, and I knew I had gone on the light side playing it super safe. The next batch I kicked up to where it was supposed to be and gun ran like a clock. Never missed a beat. I ended up selling it to a young fellow who was starting a security job and needed to supply his own handgun, and didn't have a lot of money. He got a pretty good gun.

I looked at one of the 2.0's the other day. Guy at the gun shop handed it to me and asked what I thought. I handed it back and told him the trigger was broken. He told me I didn't know beans from apple butter, until he racked the slide a few times, then he turned to his companion and said "Take this one to the back. It's broken."

Now, I know, stuff happens. That was the display model and who knows who'd done what to it, but I had to laugh. I'd be tempted to buy one, but I've sort of drifted away from semi's and back to revolvers now. I've got a shelf full of 9mm ammo, and a thousand or so bullets, and brass to reload more, but I've got a Taurus G-3 to fill that roll if I ever want a 9mm again.

My original SW40F was awesome. Never a single malfunction. Better than my Glocks actually. It’s still running fine today. I sold it to a buddy and he loves it also.

I owned one of the old 9VE models. It was a great shooter....until it wasn't. They're affordable for a reason: they'll need replacing sooner rather than later.
