Greeting's All-

My question is this, do any of you own a firearm(s) that you have stowed
away in a RSC, that you hardly ever look it or fondle? In my case, I have
several that haven't seen the light of day, in quite awhile. Such as the
case with my Springfield Armory G.I. model, Smith & Wesson 34-1 that
is factory nickel, or my stainless Smith & Wesson 2.5" model 66-4. As a
matter of fact, the only one that I have personally fired is the S&W 66;
and only then, fired one time to displace a dangerous pit bull that was
trying too kill my other pit bull~!

The SA 1911 was given too me by a very dear (and now deceased) good
friend. I have really good memories of him, and it would break my heart to
see this piece; knowing the pain and suffering he went through~! So, all
said and done; what about you, do you own any weapons that you don't
see or handle day to day, or week to week, month to month, or so~?

Not like that, but I have been know to cuss when I don't remember where exactly I put **** gun, haven't forgot that I have X model, but I have read some funny threads about those with a much more substantial collection buying X model of a gun only to find they already had one.

Sure. My safes hold plenty of guns I rarely shoot or even handle, but they all have some story behind them that keeps me from trading or selling them. There is the 870 I never shoot anymore because I don't fancy pumps these days, but it was my first new shotgun so it's staying. My first rifle was a single-shot Remington .22, youth-size, it's saved for grandchildren. My .22 Diamondback was my first handgun. My Colt SAA was a gift from a friend, can't sell it. My Ruger No. 1 is just too pretty to get rid of, even though it's not my deer rifle of choice. My Colt 1911s -- I have sold a couple but probably no more. I keep telling myself that I'm going to get better at long-range shooting with my Sendero .25-06, if I ever get time to really work at it. There is a 700 Varmint in .204 Ruger that I have never even had the chance to shoot, but one of these days... I could go on. Get the picture?

I had a 10/22 I bought in 95 had only a brick shot out of it, (I shot a box last year, first time in 3 or 4 years) so I traded it for an LCP.

I've got a few that don't get shot much but I'll never part with but a Ruger doesn't fit that category.

I like variety, so I have a "collection". I don't like to have any I won't shoot but I do have some I haven't shot yet. I always intend to shoot more often than I do.

I'm sorry to hear that about your 66-4. Makes me very sad. I'd like to do you a favor and assure you that if you sell it to me that it would be shot, carried, fondled, and cared for often.

I've never exactly forgotten about one, but if you asked me to list them all from memory, some would get skipped and others named more than once.

Lots. I had my S&W M37 for 3 years before I ever fired it. Plenty of others in there that haven't been warmed up in several years. Some are slated for liquidation.

Tastes change over time. I wanted a Cx4 storm something fierce when they first came out (I was 21). By 25, I realized that it wasn't really what I was into anymore and I sold it to a friend a year later. Never regretted it. I was also never into shotguns in years passed, but I have acquired 3 old gems in the last 6 months that I'm quite fond of.

At 28, and having owned many of the plastic fantastics and futuristic type stuff, I find now that I appreciate older guns, or newer ones of that style. Still love my AR's, though.

A few guns I have forgotten, Korth, Python, due to pricing,Tarus,Rossi, Rg, Excam, quality problems.:D

The reverse problem:

[Jeff Foxworthy voice] You might be a redneck, if you KNOW you hev a pa-ticullar far-arm in your house, that you KEN NOT FIND! [/Jeff Foxworthy voice]

:D (Smirk!) BTDT!

Yes, it eventually turned up, safely stowed.

Now that I'm older, I find that most lost things do eventually turn up, especially if you don't get all panicky about them!

not forgot about, but a whole stash of things that havent seen light in a long time, M1A1 paratrooper, winchester M1 "bringback", 9 makers of M1 carbs, original I.P. stock that needs some metal put in it, Sec. of Army trophy M1, All Army pistol champ trophy custom 1911, oh and some black ops items

Probably the only one I've got that qualifies is a Colt LWE Commander, ANIB w/all papers and a beautiful set of after market stocks. Got it for a very good price in 2003. Put it in the bottom of the big safe and didn't find it until 4-08 as I was packing everything for a retirement move to Montana. Pleasant surprise and then a feeling of relief!!!!!!!!!! I still haven't fired it.

Looking into my gun log, I have firearms that I haven't touched since 2002!

I shoot what I own though I don't always "own" what I shoot.

My father bought me a Rem. 700 in 30-06 for my 18th birthday. I shot it over that summer, packed up for college, fired maybe 40 rounds over the next 4 years then picked it up again after 15 years of guarding my safe.

I'm glad I kept it clean all that time as it is a joy to shoot and a wonder to behold amidst the sea of composite stocks and varmint barrels with tacticool accesories being fired from the other benches. This and my 1100 which I bought at age 12 (with the help of an after school job) are the only two I would never part with. To never shoot them again would dishonor their intended purpose to me though I can understand certain guns are kept unfired for the very same reason.

Every gun I own is a JIC (Just In Case) with whatever is handiest being my first choice. One would-be burglar and his 4 assistants likely didn't know or care that the shotgun I marched them off my property with was a .410 single shot but I'm guessing they knew it was a shotgun and that they were going to be at least one short of a basketball team if they did not comply.

I was careful not to grab anything that I couldn't live without because I know what a year in a police locker can do if one is forced to make that most difficult decision to fire. (From LEO stories, not from personal experience).

With two youngsters below shooting age in the house, it seems like most of my guns are currently neglected - particularly those related to hunting.

The only truly neglected one in the bunch is an HR 922. It is actually a nice revolver, but not one I really wanted in the first place. A friend inherited it and sold it to me for pocket change after finding out dealers wouldn't even give him that. It will be a good one to teach the kids with pretty soon.

When you start to own 20+ guns alot of that kinda thing happens. I have a summer home where I keep some guns for portions of the year. I also let my grandfather hold onto some of them, while I still have some at my house. I like to keep them spread out in case of a burglary, so I still have 2/3 of them left if 1 out of the 3 locations is robbed or something along those lines. This way is effective, but I often find myself worrying or looking for guns at my house, or will have to call up gramps to make sure a particular gun is where its supposed to be.
