Sunday, while shooting out monthly Steel Challenge Match I almost made it completely through until my next to last run on the last stage. I had a round fire out of battery. Using CCI Mini Mags I really can't explain why it happened.

The pistol was clean except for the previous 200 rounds for the day. I had cleaned the gun the night before and ran a bronze brush down the barrel. My extractor blew out of the bolt along with the plunger. Luckily someone had a Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Lite with a Red Dot Sight on it and lent it to me so I could finish the match.

I normally take my backup gun and extra parts but I was carrying light Sunday. Not a mistake I will make in the future. It's always a better play to have a backup gun just in case.

Not having a spare plunger and extractor, I'll be calling Volquartsen today, I took my spare bolt and put it in my Black Mamba. I fired 200 rounds and everything worked 100% so I'm happy.

After verifying that the gun works I started working on my time to first shot, shooting at an 8 inch paper target at 15 yards. I really need to work on my confidence level for the first shot. If I can take one second off on each run I can easily get back into B class. My transitions shots are doing pretty good and so is my accuracy right now.

It's tough getting old. Many years ago I made Master Class using my S&W 625 with very light loaded .45s. At 70 I don't expect to get back there but with a lot of work I can see B or even A Class in my future. _DSC9727.jpg

Sounds like you have a good group to shoot with, let you start again and loaned you one of their guns to compete against them, to boot. Thumbs up on that.
