I am looking to forward mount the following scout scope on my M1 Garand

M8-2.5x28mm Intermediate Eye Relief Scout

the purpose would be to use my Garand as a Mule deer gun. My main concern is how these scopes would perform in the early morning or at dusk. Does anyone have an opinion?

If that's your concern DON'T DO IT

I have Steyr Scouts in .308 and in .376. For my money, and I did put my money where my mouth is, the Scout Scope is like having some combination of 20 year old eyes and perfect Lasik. I enjoy it immensely. They suit my needs and cover what I think of as legal and sporting hunting.

If you want a moonscope buy a moon scope. I like the 8x56 where my experience is Zeiss but I do think Swarovski is the better line. As John D. Cooper wrote someplace recently, when you need a moonscope the scope is what matters more than the rifle.

They do great under low light in my experience. Now you actually run into problems however when the sun is directly behind you in any amount of light. At this point, the sun will glare into the rear objective of the IER scope. This is where the IER scope doesn't do too hot.
