It is a used (in great condition) satin nickel 2nd gen S&W 469. I have seen a few 469s in person and also a lot on the Internet, but never a satin nickel version (normally the model 469 is found in the standard blued finish). The model 669, is the same pistol in a satin stainless. I later read some old posts where S&W made some (something like less than 100 or so) model 469s in the satin nickel finish as a special order run. Mine didn't come with the factory box, so I don't really have any info on it. The trigger pull/feel is pretty nice on it and I'm thinking of using it a conceal carry piece. Need to get an IWB holster for it. It only came with one 12rd 9mm mag. I just ordered three more 12rd mags for it from MidwayUSA. I haven't gotten a chance to shoot it yet, but I pretty sure it is going to do well. The only negative, is the model 469 has an integrated front sight built into the slide, so getting a front night sight for it would take some gunsmithing. Here are a few pics of it:

It didn't come with a box and I tried looking yesterday on the web if there was a website that has info on date of manufacture based on serial numbers for S&W firearms (couldn't find one). My guess is early to mid 80s I suppose.

I got a 569, the blued version. I think the gun is fantastic, not one of the best triggers ever but totally fine. it'll take any 59 series magazine, including the bigger aftermarket 20+ rounders. Mine has been run on all kinds of cheap 9mm and has never had any kind of a problem. If you can get a rock to fit in the magazine, it'll feed if not fire it too I'm convinced.

You did GOOD!

I bought my first S&W 469 in 1987, IIRC....not long after they came out. The 469 'killed' the little Devel 9MM ASP conversions, much the same was as Colt's Officer's ACP 'killed' the Detonics .45.

You did GOOD, also in the fact that yours DOES NOT have the ambi-safety, as it was held on by a PHILLIPS HEAD SCREW that was notorious for shooting loose...not to mention the FACT that it looked AWFUL!

My little 469 was amazingly accurate and seemed to prefer Federal's HOT 95 gr. JSP ammunition popular at the time.
