Went to one of the local gun/outdoor stores (not a chain, but a very large store) that has been out of primers for several months. They had signs up on the reloading shelves saying "primers behind counter." Sure enough, they had primers, with a limit of 300 (3 trays, not 3 cartons) per customer. I took 300 of the small pistol (I was getting uncomfortably low).

I took a couple of things from this: 1. Retailers that ration goods might actually have some stuff for those of us who don't follow delivery trucks around. 2. Claims that the primer manufacturers were diverting all production to complete ammo manufacturers, with no primers in sight until July, were incorrect. I'm sure we're several weeks from supply/inventory catching up fully with demand, but the pipeline is flowing. I think the end is in sight.

My local big box chain sporting good store gets regular shipments around once a week and continuously gets powder, primer and bullets. The panic-ers are still scooping everything up within a few days, but sure enough, another shipment comes in the next week. I stop by about once a week just to look and almost always see powder, primers and bullets on the shelves which usually disappear but are replaced with something else the next week.

Eventually the hoarders will get their fill and the flippers won't see any more customers willing to pay inflated prices and this madness will end. In the mean time, if you really need something, just be diligent in your search and buy only what you need if the prices are high.

This is going to end and I have no sympathy for anyone who ends up "stuck" with overpriced inventory.

The store near my house has a small pile of CCI SPPs and LRPs divided into 500 primer packs. You can only buy 500 per day per type but they have had stock now for over a week. They also have limited stocks of powder which you can buy 1lb per kind at a time.

The way I see it, limiting amounts is the only way to keep the hoarders and gougers in check.

I was able to actually find some CCI SPP at the local store. Been getting low. They had only 5k in stock. I had the funds to pick them all up, but only needed 2k, so that's what I bought. Figured, were all in this together, no since in hoarding.

Thanks for the tip on the HP-38. Just ordered some. They are now down to 26 8lb containers. Adventure Outdoors in Smyrna, Ga had small and large pistol primers in stock as of today at 11:00am if anybody is in the Atlanta, Ga area. Limit 300 per customer. CCI 500, CCI 550 and CCI 300. They will go fast.

I posted the above on March 16. I'm surprised they still had some in stock. The gun tech I spoke with there said they were not expecting any more in any time soon. Glad you were able to get some.

Through the "panic" I have been able to buy primers and powder when and where they had them, no shortage around here. Went to the big shop last week and guy at the powder counter said,t reload are walking through the store saying the panic has taken all the powder out of the store for the reloaders. One guy was on the phone saying that, I asked him if he knew where the black powder was(just being smart) he shows me. Well its right beside then powder counter, and yes still on the phone, the guy comes up and I said this guy is looking for H335. Clerk looks at the guy on the phone who has boxes and boxes of ammo in his basket and says "we didn't get our shipment in this week yet, the truck never left its warehouse" guy looks at the clerk funny and then corrects himself to who has talking to.

I did that to prove a point, that guy over heard "we are sold out" and then exploded it to the "panic" you can have customers like that in our hobby . Information needs to be accurate.
