Four Armed Burglars

Today I saw a report on TV about a home invasion where two armed bad guys broke into a home where the nanny was watching two small children. They duct taped her to a chair and ransacked the home. Before leaving they loosened the tape so the nanny could work herself loose, as she did, so she would be able to take care of the children.

I mention this because it was a very very nice home in a very very nice neighborhood. Not the kind you would expect crime, as I am sure the people living there didn't expect it.

Home invasions are rare in the nicer neighborhoods I suppose, but they do happen, they happen at random, and they happen without warning in daytime and nighttime. They don't all end this well for sure.

Seems there are many "crook-got-shot" stories around, but I AM an advocate of the 12 guage with 00 buckshot and have witnessed the devastating damage of this weapon on several occasions. One incident does NOT disqualify nor qualify any weapon type or caliber as the BEST. To me it varies based upon scenario particulars, number of suspects, distance, indoors versus outdoors, etc. For longer range hostilities an AR with good sights is my first choice.

The criminal types have great fear of the shotgun and just seeing one in the hands of a citizen quickly modifies their intentions. Most shotgunners I know have a mix of 00 buck and slug rounds in their shotgun so as not to limit their options.

This is always an interesting topic.
