I had some new-to-me pistols top test out Monday morning.
First up is a Philippine made 1911 from Metro Arms. Metro Arms is not Armscor; It is much better.
I really like the fit & finish of this Deluxe model, although it is not USGI spec.(Not all 1911 parts will fit) The frame & slide dimensions are much different. Frame & slide are cast, the original small parts are MIM, but I replaced the trigger, hammer, barrel & bushing. Barrel & bushing are Ed Brown.
This was my first attempt to shoot this pistol to 25 yards. The original barrel was a sloppy fit, & a Wilson "Group Gripper" full length guide rod would not fit, so I ordered an Ed Brown replacement. Very tight now.
As you can see, I need to learn how to properly hold a pistol for accuracy.
Next is a High Power Practical that I recently bought from a forum member.
Adjustable sights are handy at the range, but these sit up too high. I had the same model before with combat sights that I liked much better, but my gunsmith made me an offer I could not refuse, so it is in his possession now.
The trigger is best described as "Robust", & you can build up the muscles that power your index finger by shooting it.
One day, It will sport a Cylinder & Slide trigger, sear & springs WITHOUT the magazine safety.
Notice the Browning logo on the rear sight.
Here is a picture of the one I traded away (middle pistol);
Next is My CZ75B. It shoots true, plus I enjoy shooting it, so I took it along.
This is my Springfield 1911. It is the only one with a forged frame & slide. The other three are cast.
This one is not accurate in its out-of-the-box form. I installed the Wilson "Group Gripper" in this one as it fits like it was made for it, & I wanted to see if accuracy was improved.
Nope! Not by my measurements. What you see is a target that was initially hung at the 25 yard board, but I had to sneak up to within ten or eleven yards to get it to print on target.
I'll have to return one fine day & work on my hold.
At least I know I have three that shoot to POA at 25yds.
