Was thinking of picking up a Franchi Instinct L. Read lots of online reviews. But what does the High Road have to say about it? I am not a pro. Light hunting and sporting clays. It will have a life of ease with occasional fun.

O/u are looking better every day with are new semi auto laws here, wouldn't believe what the sheriff's told use today. Don't know nothing about the gun tho.

I have an over/under, a Condor. It’s ok, the butt stock has developed a crack and it would seem they only get worse. The forend is also loose. I don’t like the way it points. I will fix it up and keep it to do something. I also have a Mossberg 9200. It had a problem with the loading gate. I think I can fix that. Their reputation is not good, but except for the recent problem has been excellent. Next I have a Linberta. It’s stock feels cheap, but it’s a shooting machine. Spare parts might be an issue. But only if it breaks. Lastly is my FN SLP. I wouldn’t have gotten it if I knew I could never find a long barrel for it. I knew they would be expensive, but didn’t think they would just not be available. Winchester X3 should fit, but can’t find them either.

long story Troy. I don’t see too many comments on this purchase so it might just be more money down a hole. Or something good. Reviewers seem to like it. I will be working near Utica on Tuesday, will stop by at lunch and get it.

I have a Franchi Instinct & it’s perfect for what your planning-pretty much same as my use. I was looking at a Weatherby Orion at about the same price point & Browning Citori at more than twice the price. Don’t even get a case with the Browning, just a cardboard box. Orion was to glossy & didn’t feel as good in hand. Prefer the “prince of wales” grip on the stock, nice case with chokes & has been a great gun.

One of my sons has one. It's a very nice shotgun for the money. I know that you're going to like it.

Picked it up today. Looks nice. Had pretty straight grained wood. Barrel is 28”. Had a silly safety to on when opening. Will defeat that when I can. Need to make sure I have the right chokes. I think they are part full and half modified. The only chokes I know are when something goes down the wrong pipe. I will figure it out. Internet will help. Got it from Eurooptic. Had a delay because I was out of town on another fun filled work trip.

I got my SL last week. I think taking it apart is a good idea. Gave mine a good cleaning and light oiling/grease and it feels better. The safety mechanism was dry and there was some tacky grease or cosmo in other spots. I like the gun more every time I pick it up.

Let us know what happens to your auto safety. I guess that’s the only thing I’m not liking about my gun. It’s a old dog new tricks thing.

These are good field guns and will certainly stand up to recreational clays use as well. They are also good looking guns. I have heard so many different takes on Beretta customer service that I have no idea but this should be a good reliable gun. Keep us informed.

I already looked up the fix. Remove the transfer link between the top lever and the safety. Use a roll pin as a replacement for the transfer link to allow anchor the safety. I will try to post some pictures when I do this. Have to find the right size roll pin with a visit to Ace.

Sorry to be late to the party but I have an older Franchi O/U that is very light weight and responsive. I believe you will enjoy your Instinct L. The Italians know how to craft a very useful and pleasing vertical double.

I have to be patient when I purchase firearms. It always seems that they arrive when I am out of town on business. Then it can be hard to get to the dealer to pick it up. Took almost three weeks from my order until my pickup. The order was processed and shipped same day. Since it was shipped from PA, it arrived at my dealer the following Monday. Where was I? I was off to Washington DC. Then off to Shreveport. Now home for two weeks and off to DC again. I am scheduled Friday to go to Sporting Clays with my Doctor. The weather report says rain. No telling when I will have a range report. Might be able to shoot Saturday when I go to visit my dad. Although he has projects for me to do for him.
