This was constructed from used milk jugs and tiles I found in front of my neighbor's house. Will two floor tiles backed by a "plate" made from melted milk jugs stop rifle rounds? I hit it with 7.62x39mm, .223 Rem, and 7.62x51mm.

Don't know how to vote since I don't know how thick the "milk-jug plate" is before watching the video. As there is level III UHDPE armor, I know that a thickness of what amounts to laminated plastic will stop rifle rounds, ceramic tiles are tough as well. I voted .223 since those rounds act like little babies when they hit something hard (kidding, kinda, my HD gun is an AR).

OK, watching the video made me think of something:

I know you've tested making ceramic tile plates and seeing what it takes/how many to stop a rifle round on their own. How about making a glued-together 2 tile plate in front of level IIIA as a poor man's in-conjunction set up? Would the 2 tiles give just enough round breakup for the IIIA to trap the rest? This would actually be practical in terms of width.

(No, I'm not suggesting anyone do it, just buy quality plates that can be had for as little as under $100 each)

What tile are you using, ceramic tile or porcelain tile? Porcelain is much tougher as the entire tile is vitreous material. Ceramic tile is a thin layer of glaze over a softer and weaker underlayer.

Two of those tiles and that thick chunk of plastic would be awful uncomfortable-but so is being shot without armor......

you know what that would be great for?

A designated "safe direction".

I have an old target on the end of a bookshelf, facing my desk where my lock box resides. When I am clearing a pistol prior to storing it, I take a second to sight in on the target. I haven't shot it yet (counting the same set up in my prior apartment, it's been in use for about 8 years), but if I did, I am pretty confident that 44 inches of hard cover books + a hardwood shelf side will stop a .45.

Something like this, prettied up, could be hung on a wall for a similar purpose.
