My Company gives service awards for years of service. After 30 years one of the options is a BL 22.
I picked it up Tuesday.
I want to clean the shipping oil out of it. The manual does not give procedures for dissasembly. They recommend only opening the lever and cleaning this way. Looking at the parts diagram it doesn't look too overwhelming, but I thought I would see if anyone here had some tips or tricks.

Oh, even though it's shiny and new I still prefer my 1966 39 A Mountie.

Thanks,
Rodger

Oh, I thought you were giving a BL22 away.:D

Congratulations, though. Those things are nice!

I used to own one of those, and they're nice guns, although like you, I prefer a different lever .22, the 9422.

Anyhoo; there's an excellent chance you're more mechanically inclined than I am, but unless you're really handy, I personally wouldn't take the thing apart. I did, and regretted it. I got it back together, but I had to grow an extra hand/arm to do so. Lot's 'o little interconnected parts.

You could search (please) at rimfirecentral.com in the Browning section, if you haven't already done so. I'm sure someone there has probably posted tips about taking these things apart, but if I even see a hint of that topic it causes me cold sweats, and I back out of the thread. Of course, I'm known to be a little skittish, so you may find it invigorating.

I have always loved the BL22 as it was the rifle I grew up with. Nowadays, as is seen in my siggy, I am toting a little nicer one than I had when younger.

CONGRATS on the award and new rifle my friend.

Chuck
