French Going Wild For Senator Kerry In Election Fever

On another subject...

Despite the mention of DU on this forum (and others), I had never been there. I just went and read a little. Sickening.

Let's examine a little...

DU has official policies in place that automatically exclude people with certain leanings (anyone but Democrats and "other Progressives").

DU bans posters who say things that just don't go along with their philosophy.

DU seems to allow people to say whatever they want about the banned people and the right wing with no regard to common courtesy.

THR lets anyone speak their mind as long as it is done in a civil manner and does not prohibit anyone from joining. Posts aren't deleted based on philosophical content but rather on profanity or vulgarity (courtesy again) when they are deleted at all. Usually, the thread will be locked but still available for viewing.

Other than not being welcome there because I wouldn't be "Progressive" enough, it is very clear why I would NOT want to hang out there.

Unbelievable. The very existence of DU and how it is run is exactly what we fear will happen to our nation over time, just in a microscopic web-based realm. THR, on the other hand, is a place far more open and enjoyable BECAUSE the people espouse the horrible Conservative beliefs.

On DU, you are basically "killed" if you don't agree with the politics of the board and your posts are censored by the moderators.:uhoh:

Wow...how much better can the effects of the two belief systems be represented?:banghead:

It is the same old canard: the statists/leftists/progressives are the people of "inclusion" and "tolerance."

Laughable is it not? :barf:

The difference being that they want to use the power of government to their ends.

libertarians and most conservatives just want ot be left alone. ;)

Why we have to fight to be left alone is

“He is the closest thing that you will have to a French politician,..."

Of course! He's a typical immoral, wavering, philandering socialist.

Don't worry about it, ojib! The south put up a more courageous fight than the French ever have.

Just remember that the only military victory the French have had in the last 100 years was to sink an unarmed ship crewed by pacifists, and that was while the crew slept!

My opinion:

It's a sign of weakness, it's evidence of someone unwilling to have their beliefs tested. Anybody with any balls at all would be willing to walk the walk and read opposing viewpoints, healthy and open debate, marketplace of ideas and all that good stuff. I'm a registered Democrat and I can't stand that place. But there's plenty of that kind of attitude all over the board, conservative to liberal and everything in between.

DU?

What is the "DU" that H Mayo referes to?

Somehow, all I can think of when the French praise Kerry is "Maginot Line". I don't know why.

I still don't like Bush/Cheney, but they're still getting my vote in November.

I have been watching elections since reconstruction and this is the first year where news was made by stories of preference polls in other countries. Nothing in the world of politics and media ever happens by accident. I think we are being conditioned to face the day when cheese-eating surrender monkeys get to vote for urban, cultured, sophisticated candidates of their choice to run the US.

That is the most frightening thing I have ever read in my life. :uhoh: :uhoh:

*shudder*

Perhaps that's why the Republicans keep attacking him...they figure he'll surrender soon and volunteer to work for them.

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

*catches breath*

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

*whew*

Thanks! That is the funniest thing I've read in a while! The best part is that it could very well happen!!!

:D :D :D

There are people who are seriuosly proposing it. At least for Mexico and Canada.

These weasels will get votes any way they can, read this:

Nutty :uhoh:

The donkey party is fading away. They now need juveniles, illegal aliens and felons in order to win. :neener:

They have received everything they have asked for over the past 70 years: the New Deal, the Great Society, SS, medicare, and so on. SO they keep pushing for more and more vote buying. The basically conservative yet generaous Americans have had enough and are saying "enough already."

That is hard to believe. Well, maybe not. Dems from California - I guess I'd believe anything coming from them.

I'm sich of Mr "Currywurst"

I have some slight problems with French as well (and remember: I'm originally from the French-speaking part of Switzerland). I can't stand Kerry. He's a goddamn liberal, even by Swiss standards (and they're far more to the left than the US ones).

And even if he's spend time here learning one national language, this doesn't forcibly make him better in any way. He should have learnt at least two - German and French. There are pretty few Americans that managed to do this.

Also, we happen to have coined the term "Mr Currywurst" for him. Anybody who knows what a German "Currywurst" is will understand the hint. :)
