In the next few week, I am going to be able to cut the barrel of my rifle and wish to install a detachable front sight with of course a screwed on base.

Why? just cause.....

I cant seem to find a good mount that will correlate with using a basic A2 style rear sight like this: http://www.brownells.com/rifle-part...hable-rear-sight-sku231000006-5556-12958.aspx . Yes, I know there are excelent side mounts, but out of personal preference I wish to avoid those.

Could I (preferably) still use a globe like the Lyman #93 sight with a standard mount?

I know that this is a very silly question, but I love me some irons! Tried using the search, but only came up with threads dealing with AR-15s.

Oh, and I currently have a 20MOA base on the rifle now (yes this is a scope back up).

Thank you for your time,

So you want to add a front sight base to a blank barrel? And get a quick-detachable front sight to use on it?

This isn't my thing, so take it for what it's worth. For the Lyman sight you would want to have a dovetail cut for the front sight base and use risers to get to the correct height to match the rear sight. There are bases that clamp to the barrel as well. These are all used by competition target shooters. I wonder if you could use a picatinny gas block from an AR15 and use risers to get to the correct height.

Well, it has passed thoughy mind, though I am trying to keep as low as profile as possible as to not snag on brush. I know an A2 front is tall enough.

They make dovetail risers? Didn't know that...
