FTE on new Kimber

Everyone knows barns have the ability to wink in and out of this universe, thats why they are so hard to hit. :neener:
I have also found masking tape flinches at the sound of gunshots and has the ability to wiggle and move targets.....
:D

If it was me I would feed the gun a couple more boxes of ammo then if it is stall acting up call Kimber and see what they say. I would think it should work with "factory 115 FMJs" unless the manual says it won't. That is kind the generic 9mm round. IMO
Never had any issues out of the box (or any othertime) FTE, FTF with my Taraus or Springfield XD 9mms, but breaking it makes sense to me.

Have you tried telling it if it dosen't behave you will trade it in on a "insert most hated 9mm pistol name here".

The Kimber is working well on 147 gr. Going to try some 124 gr next. Manual actually says to only shoot good 124 or 147 and nothing smaller. Don't know why but really don't care as I now have a bunch of those bullets to load and am really happy with the pistol now.

Kimber has a rather tight chamber. burned powder fouling can be a problem. Unique is rather dirty and leaves carbon behind in the chamber. Go to a cleaner burning powder like WSF or W-231. Yes...Kimber likes the upper presure levels.

Yes, I would like to use w-231 but finding it is a real issue at the moment.

If you get a chance to get some WSF. Get it! You'll like it.

I load 7.7 grains of WSF under a 185 grain XTP. Runs around 850 fps from a 3 inch Kimber .45 ACP and very accurate to boot.

They say right in the owner's manual not to shoot that crap. They also specify to shoot only SD ammo such as 124gr or heavier Golder Sabers, a Gold Dots or Hydra-Shoks.

Anyone that thinks they it just run with WallyWorld special 115gr through it is just plain stupid.

hexhead...They (Kimber) say a lot of things. They say that I should only load 230 grain bullets for this Kimber UCC II .45 ACP, but...As a reloader I know that I can improve on factory or develope a load with a lighter bullet. I prefer 185 grain Hornady XTP/HP and have absolutely no problems what so ever.

If you keep going wth what "they say"...How can you ever have any fun just shooting EXPENSIVE factory ammunition?

Limbers

I was at my gun club pistol range several years ago firing my DCM Model 1911A1. A guy came in with his brand new Kimber 1911 style 45 Acp. He said it was from the custom gun shop Kimber has.He insisted that I fire his new beauty. It had failures to feed and failure to eject. I didn't even get through one magazine without numerous malfunctions .I gave him back his pride and joy and went back to shooting my flawless WW 2 veteran. He said it wasn't broken in yet. I thought at the time that for the cost he must have paid that I would never buy a Kimber even in the unlikely chance that I could afford to pay the high price for one. Every time I hear Kimber guess what comes to mind?:banghead:

Yup...Lj1941. Seven failures to chamber in the first 200 rounds. 2,000 fires sense and no failures of any kind.

As a Master Marine/Industrial Diesel mechanic I have never seen a quality newly overhauled or brand new diesel or gas engine that didn't have to be "broken in" properly. That goes for new revolvers, rifles and pistols. Or any other new machine for that matter.
