I know you said no, but have you held the XD-M? While I don't think it looks great, it feels pretty good in my hand.

haven't had my hands on one yet - but that doesn't mean I won't somewhere down the road...

realistically this was a pretty impuslive buy, I just wanted something new NOW and this was the only one available to rent and buy on the spot - so it was an easy choice for the day. I'll keep looking for something that's perfect...

Before I saw you'd bought the M&P (nice pistol, BTW), I was going to suggest trying the new Gen 2 Sig 229 SAS. It's a DA/SA trigger, but the new Gen 2 version swaps out the DAK trigger for the short-reset trigger, which is a terrific trigger. After the first shot it's as crisp as a good 1911. Expensive, but good. I almost bought one last weekend.

reviving an old thread...

I ended up selling the M&P because the trigger just felt horrible. To replace it I picked up a used G35 with 4 spare 15rd mags and Trijicon night sights for $429. The trigger feels great (this model is a pound or so lighter than standard GLOCK triggers), sight radius is longer, barrel is longer, and I can shoot 9mm (with the conversion barrel I just picked up) - as a whole it's a superior setup.

I'm still passively in the market for a nice SAO 9mm or .40 - but the G35 is keeping me plenty happy and busy for the time being.
