I am full length resizing with a lee FLS die this is a new die in .308. When i resize my new Remington brass to full length i am getting a small thin cut ring around the base of the shoulder the large part. I have adjusted to Lee specs 1/3 to 1/4 further down and i am puzzled. I would appreciate any help i can get.

Sent the die set back to Midwayusa which they were very nice about it. They are sending a new set as i'm sending the one i have back. Thanks for your helpful input.

Well i got a new set of Lee dies FLS die is doing the same thing. A thin very shallow cut mark around the circumference of the base of the shoulder of the .308 case. Should i go ahead and load them or send theses dies back and try another brand. Also this die set the FLS die has evidence of pliers marks on the die locking ring. Ant suggestions Thanks

Messed Up.

Hey There;
They may have just messed up and sent you the wrong stuff back. I have not heard of this before. but there is no real reason for any kind of ring being cut into your brass from the dies. Mic your brass and make sure your chamber is not some how blown way out of spec or some goofy thing like that too.

The ring goes almost all the way around the base of the shoulder. I can feel the cut mark with my finger nail. I did send Lee a picture of the case but haven't heard back from them yet. I will try to post a picture of the case. Thanks

Hummm...Seems to have a bit of a sharp edge to that die. Disassemble the die and have a look at the offending part. Maybe you can clean up the edge. I believe one of my dies did the same thing and I have just ignored it over the years. I don't think it's making that ring anymore. Wore it away, I guess...

The previous die made the same cut marks as this one. So would you go ahead and load the cases an fire them at the range. I have a new Tikka T3 Lite in .308 i need to sight in with my hunting ammo. 150gr sierra spitzer boat tail

Whatever it is, it just ain't right.

Apparently one of Lee's reamers is ground wrong and is leaving a sharp edge on the shoulder/neck angle break.

I would either take some fine emory cloth on a dowel rod & drill and try to break the edge & polish it.

Or better yet, call Lee up and ask them to send you a die they have tested and found to not damage brass.

A third option I would consider is sending them back for a full refund and buy some RCBS dies that are, more then likely, made right.

Thanks i'm not a happy camper right now about this an waisting my time sending these dies back and forth. The way i feel is if i purchase new dies i shouldn't be the one to have to work out the scuff marks.
