Fully automatic pistols?

Okay, I know, I have three years before it even matters. I'd still like to know more on this topic, though.

So, speaking of fully automatic pistols, what is available to the public with proper background checks/NFA tax/before X date of manufacture?

There are a very small number of Glock 18s and Beretta 93Rs that were registered before the ban in 1986. I guess technically the SP89 and MP5K are pistols too, and lots of MAC10s and 11s.

I've seen some prices for the Glocks and they were close to $18000-20000. The MP5Ks are a bit cheaper at around $12000. Then tack on the NFA transfer tax for the MG, another one if it has a suppressor and yet another one if it has a stock and you're looking at $600 in taxes too. Definitely not an inexpensive hobby.

Dunno.

The cheapest MGs are the Mac 10/11s, which are going for around $2,000 last time I looked. Next up are converted Uzis and Stens in the $3,000 to $4,000 range. AFAIK, there are no transferrable full auto Glocks on the market. The only ones I've seen are post-dealer samples.

I think once you graduate to a GE Minigun, it is getting a little on the expensive side.

I think MP5SD is right, there might not be any transferable Glock 18s out there. According to some people on www.gunsamerica.com and www.sturmgewehr.com there are a total of 6 Beretta 93Rs that were registered before the ban. One of them is the gun used in the Robocop movie. The one for sale on Gunsamerica is going for $18k. Of course for that price you could get a full-auto Steyr Aug and an Uzi. Or two M16s or a FNC and a M16, or 54 semi-auto AK47s.

I'm guessing he is either 18 years old or is serving in the military. Or it could be the cooling off period for his wife after she finds out how much cash he is going to spend on a full auto weapon!


I know someone who is big into the full auto world, has several, and it ain't cheap feeding those full auto jobs! Parts replacement can be expensive too. Full auto fire really heats up a barrel and the rifling may not last long. The firing mechanism also takes a real pounding. I would hazard a guess that the only hobby that might be more expensive than full auto would be flying. I looked into that too, but the cost and the fear and restrictions brought on by 9-11-01 brought me back to reality. The reality is that I just don't make enough money!

Both apply, stans! My girl is happy that I want such a "neat gun", but not so happy at the pricetags.....

But then again, she can't tell me I want an expensive rifle, SHE wants a Barrett M82a1, which is not cheap....

I still say I'm in heaven with this girl.

The idea for a full auto pistol is not new . The Mauser M96 and it's spanish copies were available full auto and more recently the Beretta 93R. However as a practical gun it's not very good, hard to control and empties the magazine very quickly.
