I was cruising the Internet and thought the folks here might find this interesting.

It's a list of celebrities who are gun owners: http://www.ranker.com/list/famous-people-who-own-guns/celebrity-lists?format=SLIDESHOW&page=46

Some of the ones on there are no surprise, like Ted Nugent and Tom Selleck, and for some reason, they decided to include several rappers who have been arrested on gun charges... theres also a few pictures of said celebrities that are showing off less than safe gun handling, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that the guns were rendered unusable in some way or were props for the photo shoot.

Some of the ones that surprised me were Johnny Depp and James Earl Jones.

Thanks for posting the article.

The shocker to me was that Woopie Goldburg is not only a gun owner but an NRA member.

Not worth viewing.

A sad showing for two reasons, #40 "Musician PJ Harvey (I don't even know who that is) who has a gun in her mouth". The OP warned of some "unsafe handling"; this is beyond unsafe. My second reason for disliking this list was too many rappers who are on the list only because they have been arrested for gun charges. Are they federally prohibited persons? I don't know, BUT if they are ... they not gun owners.

There many internet idiots who mentally link real "gun owners" on this list like Charlton Heston and Tom Sellec w/ the clueless persons who just looking to "add to their bling" and their mischief.

Bottom line, I don't look for celebrity endorsement for my 2A Rights.

PS: whoever programed this list did not know what they were doing. The Next button took me to the end of the list and I had to go through it backwards. It was messed up w/ firefox or IE.

Not sure how reliable that is, but it is interesting.

Of course the question is whether someone is a gun owner and for prohibition or for freedom.

sheez...I agree with Steelerdude...I wouldn't consider a lot of those folks good poster children for responsible gun ownership.

Interesting. I see Robert DeNiro, Donald Trump and Howard Stern are on this list. Considering they spend considerable time in NYC, I wonder what special privileges they get which allows NYC ownership (and suspect more than just ownership... i.e. perhaps carry?) more so than average Joe.

Related: There was a case a few years back where a big rock band member (Mick Jaggar maybe???) received a carry permit for NYC and a big stink was made over it. I can't recall the details.

I believe that Aerosmith received gun permits from the head of the NYC gun permit office in exchange for backstage passes and VIP treatment at an after-concert event.

November 24, 2002 -- A top NYPD official is being probed for helping rockers Steven Tyler and Joe Perry obtain pistol licenses in return for alleged VIP treatment at an Aerosmith concert and ritzy after-party, The Post has learned. ...

I tend to agree.

Out of 47 about 10 were not what I'd call a good role models for us. But many others were, and a few a bit surprising. Worth a look and thanks for posting.

That was ridiculous and appears to have been written by a middle schooler for their current events project. Being arrested for "gun charges" is usually a sign that you aren't qualified/legal/trained/licensed/approved/fit/deserving of gun ownership. And, hasn't Mr. Heston been dead for 7 years already? This kid just googled Celebrity + guns and put together a slide show complete with photoshopped pics.

Sorry about linking to the very end. I wanted to go through the whole list and make sure it was THR appropriate and safe for work before posting.

I said up front that there was unsafe gun handling and people that shouldn't be on there (mostly rappers with gun charges)

Of the 10 poor role models, I would argue that they make a good lesson on what not to do.

I agree that some of these people make rather poor standard bearers. However, what this DOES do, and I think rather well, is show that all kinds of people, regardless of what they might otherwise think about issues, are pro-gun.

I have always contended, and believe I am correct, that the 2nd Amendment is neither a partisan issue or a Liberal vs Conservative issue.

Michael Moore was supposedly an NRA member at one time, as are a lot of the guns for hunting only crowd. It doesn't indicate real support for the RKBA any more than owning a gun indicates support for anyone else doing so.
