fun targets...

I've shot golf balls, bottles, milk jugs, targets, paddle pistol targets and lots of rocks, wood and ground hogs.

Ground hogs are preferred.

I really think its fun taking new shooters shooting and letting them have at it with something thats going to give them some feedback.. Think about it, just letting someone shoot your 12 gauge at nothing, or giving them a pointer and 3 rounds and letting them let loose on a bucket of water... Point is I also think its one of the best ways to convert a anti.. If someone with a very mild recoil tolerance shoots a 12 gauge into an embankment they will more than often experience the recoil and that only.. If they shoot that said 12 gauge into a case of soda then its ultra fun.. just my $.02

I like shooting propane tanks. (and no they don't explode) If you use the a lot of the 1lb green cylinders like I do, save up the empties. Also, I've bought a big 20# propane tank, new from costco only $26, and shot it up. It's fun to see which calibers can go through and which cannot, and it lasts quite a while. You might be able to find rusty old BBQ type tanks for free somewhere.

I'll be honest...

I have a terrible addiction to shooting fruits and vegetables.

cucumbers, oranges, cantaloupe, tomatoes.... anything nice a juicy that goes ka-splat!

I like stepping on spiders, they are very juicy. Ever notice how much liquid comes out of a spider when you squish one?

I really like the Charcoal idea. Do they explode in a big dusty mess (which i would consider a good thing)? And then after your done shooting you can have a cookout :D

You have to gather up all the dust first so you can charcoal dust to use on the grill.

Well okay I was thinking the excess briquettes that weren't shot.

Ironically this method is actually good for the environment, the unburnt charcoal would go back into the ground... sequestering carbon back into the ground. Maybe we can get some funding from the gubment.

You would have excess briquettes? You are a merciful man. I would definitely execute all briquettes with no exceptions.

Maybe with all the carbon dust in the ground we can create a new diamond mine for our descendants... 8 millions years later.

I hear all the time the 45 vs 9mm, how the 9 doesn't have enough power, etc etc. My wife shoots a 9, and while I stick to the 45, feel the 9mm is adequate.
My eyes were opened when I wanted to test some new defensive rounds for expansion, got 5 milk jugs full of water, and shot my 45 hydrashoks into them. The 45 went through 4 of them, and made a slight hole in the back of the 4th one. The impact blew the tops off the jugs, but thats about it. Obviously, the water all drained out of it, and I retrieved my bullet. Later, we were shooting the "weak" 223, and I figured it would be fun to shoot at the empty milk jugs. First hit, the jug shot up about 8 feet in the air and split completely down the side, without a top on. Everybody knows that water is much harder to compress than air, so the empty jugs would take an extreme amount of energy to explode than the water filled ones.
It reminded me that handguns, even the larger calibers, are so far away from "weak" rifle cartridges. And it was freakin cool!

old fire extinguishers are fun, big CO2's, and halons!!!

if you have an old pond and a dozer the possiblities are endless!! anything that will float is game!

i have two cans of expanding foam that the nozzle broke off of, which makes them useless.... almost...:D

tannerite is even more fun in the old pond mud! just leave enough of the bottle visible above the water and boom!!!

i've shot full 20# propane cylinders before, i really wouldn't suggest doing it around an open flame, as they tend to fly around ALOT!

i would say my favorite so far is large pumpkins vs. 44mag loaded hot with 180gr SP.... at arms length, but it does get messy!

1 gallon paint cans with just enough paint to color the water. Put the lid on tight and place upside down. Hit them at 100 yards with a 7mag and watch the explosion and how high the can goes.

Water jugs filled with some colored koolaid mix do well also
