Non-Targets That Become Targets

The political signs that the crummy politicians leave littering our roadways make excellent targets. I'll wait 3 days after the election, whatever hasn't been collected becomes fair game. You can shoot the centers out of the letters if ya like, paste on ya own paper targets etc. They even come with that handy target stand stake thing.

Since someone else killed a computer I felt the need to post pics of a dell case I shot up. Its components were cannibalized out into a franken computer for backup, but the case wasn't nearly large enough. I stripped the plastic off cause I didn't wanna pick up the shattered stuff everywhere. When I was down to the bare case I sit it up against the backstop of the pistol range and extracted all my revenge on Dell computer products.

Oh and it was horribly muddy so a few low shots splattered it up, it fell over and presented the top for a much smaller target. When I seen the bottom of the case fly off I stopped shooting and sit it up in the mud using the bottom to stop it from falling over as easy.

It could have took way more pounding but I didn't want anyone getting cut up on the sharp holes and crap trying to sit it up.

Edit: and yes I was giggling pretty hard that I was getting to spray a dell with a mac.

Some hot pink (or other bright color) post-it notes on a cardboard box work really well.

Or we use paper plates on old targets for table 2-4 shoots (50-10m close quarter combat shoots).

Targets

Stuffed animals. Most fun is Easter Eggs. That makes it a true Easter Egg hunt.......hehe. Shot up Barney last month. Great time and people laugh out loud while shooting. Harmless fun with a firearm 101. Just remember to clean up afterward. Leave nothing at the range or in the woods.

I work in IT so any hard drive that is no longer usable gets "erased" permanently on the next range trip by the caliber du jour. CPU's also make excellent bullseyes.

Hedge balls are my all time favorite targets. With a .22-250 they provide roughly the same splat as the prarie dog.;)

Smallbore - thanks for the info. We have both "Dollar General" and "Family Dollar" around here. Is your store either one of those?

I pulled the gong off an old fire alarm that was being retired. I don't know how well it would stand up to a centerfire, but it rings nicely with .22s and air guns. 12 gauge hulls also make great air rifle targets.

I'm another fan of cans of cheap soda (shaken), Ritz crackers, etc.

I like the post-it note idea; should have thought of that one myself!

Back in days.of.old we would put cherry bombs in a good back stop. Good hit " B O O M " then cheap fun

I will use old rifle brass that is bad and shotshell hulls. Just deprime them and stuff a string in them, push it through shell from primer end and tie a knot on it, pull back and it hangs and swings like a bell. They will take several shots before you shoot the string. A tarp on the ground and clean up is fast. great for 22 sized firearms. I can get 4 shots to a 30-06 or 270 brass. . In the winter colored Ice from a gallon container or paint bucket used as a mold and you do not have to clean the mess up. All time fav is the spray foam + 223= a mess:D
