Funny story about a trade

Let's see...

$375 for the G23 with 2 mags + glock 9mm conversion barrel new $125 + 3 9mm mags $75 + box of range 40S&W $15 + box of defensive 40S&W ammo $20 + holster $25 = $635

If someone gets it for $600 it would be a fair deal.

7 or 8 years ago, my wife and I sold our '88 Honda Prelude with 160,000 miles for $900 to a local used car dealer.

The next day it was on the lot for $4000 with 80,000 miles on the odo :what: .

We notified the police, don't know what happened afterwards.

"I'd give you 1000 for it"

"1300 and it is yours"

"deal"

OK here is the trade

There she is, I'll get a better picture but it's clean as can be. Also a second mag, without a mark on it. Go figure

I picked up a CS45 a couple of years ago. Looking for something small, but potent.

The pics above show essentially what I got. I added XS "Small Dot" night sights to it.

As delivered, it was quite pristine, but was full of mummified grease and dust bunnies big enough to raise. Been sitting around the dealer's shop (he claimed that it was his carry piece for a while) for a long time.

Surprisingly comfortable to shoot, actually, and adequately accurate. The very heavy DA is a joke, and you can't really thumb cock it safely, but it's probably as good as a DA-Only revolver. Maybe $600 - can't remember....

It's now an "airline" gun - something I wouldn't mind getting a check for if it got lost on the return flight, but it's also dependable. Problem for me is that a small 1911 is about the same size and this one's just kinda strange....

Some models have decockers instead of the more standard safety + decocker, and there are other grips available. The only problem I've had is that I've yet to figure out how to get the slide apart - I'm sure there's some cleaning I should be doing in there....

IMHO, S&W may still be making them, although I'd buy an M&P "Compact" these days. I like my full size M&P 40.... I think they dropped the .40 version, but the CS9 may also still be "in print" - it was when I bought my CS45.

Looks like a mouse gun, but don't be fooled!

Regards,

This one has the decocker, you can pull up the manual online and it has everything you would ever want to know about field striping and just about everything else. I PM'd you about where you find night sights or possibly a laser sight and other accesories for these pistols. I guess most companies aren't falling down making stuff for this pistol anymore, thanks, and if you just pull the slide back to line up with that detent, and pop out the slide release pin, the slide should just pull off forward. Just watch when putting it back together you have to manipulate the hammer or decocker depending on the model, and press down on one or two pins that engage the safty when re assembling it. Once you see the diagram it will be simple. I looked at it quicklly when I got the pistol, and just did a saftey check and ran a couple patches down the tube. Maybe 2 clips were fired., checked wear on the feeding rsmp, "none", and there was no wear on top of the barrell either from firing, I use the old pencil trick to make sure the firing pin is functional. Just cock it with the mag in, "empty of course" and the pencil should fly out upon pulling the trigger. Mine fired a pencil accross the room, lol. i got lucky on this one, there could have been things that I easily could have missed, but sometimes you just ahve to go with what you feel and see.
I am sure the reason the guy made the trade was because he thought he could sell a Glock in that condition easier than the S&W. And even though I don't wear Cameo when driving to the supermarket, I am a bit more schooled on the values than the other gent, it's real easy to make a mistake on a quick deal like this, I did by the way check his ID and ran a "stolen gun check" from my cell, I wish him the best of luck, he did what he said he would do, he's trying to make a buck.

The Florida Gun Trader is notorious for over-priced guns. The ads are free so I guess people figure "what the heck, I'll try it."
I look at it every day and am amazed at what people are asking. I see used guns on there all the time that are $50 - $100 more than I can buy new.
Example : A couple of stores in town had the S&W Sigma on sale for $299. Then there's the $50 rebate so a new one would cost $250 + tax. I see used ones on Florida Gun Trader for $400. What are these people thinking ?

Unclehenrys is too... www.unclehenrys.com but the thing is, the asking price is never what they go for.

A lot of times, I will show interest in a gun but I will point out the price is way off... they point out that they are "selling" for that on GB... I then point out that they are LISTED for that on GB... they usually contact me back a few days later. By then, I have found what I wanted.

The downside of private in state sales is people who could not otherwise purchase a gun can and they rarely do their homework.

I know a guy who bought three S&W 22A's from Cabelas for $190 each and sold two of them for $250 NIB. The people who bought them had no idea they could get them from Cabelas.

But, I have never seen one of my old ones pop up like that... thats cool. Motorcycles on the other hand... I have :)

Yes Welldoya, you are correct about that. Most are just off the wall, but once in a while you can snag something. There was a Gold Cup in the presentation case, and a LNIB Kimber, "so he said" Kimber CdP 2, that I tried for, the guy was asking $750.00 each. I figured maybe I could get them both if they were what he said, but someone beat me to them. Also I have 2 dozen emails from a 80 year old Gent who "made a deal" with me, and reneged 3 times. He wrote me a letter apologizing for his bad behavior, and I saw him post the same gun back up, with a request for the one I offered him. So there are definitely some nutso people out there also. He still emails me changing his mind on a steady basis. Now it's become a family joke.
But most folks just don't know what's going on with guns, I ran into a fella in Wallgreens yesterday who also after loosening up, has a 30 year old "Gold cup" that he paid 6-7 hundred for, I'll be meeting him at the show in FT Pierce. Maybe he wants to sell it maybe not, but made a new buddy.
When I see guys looking at the gun magazines I can't help myself, lol
