Future weapons - capable of making even mall ninjas gag on tacticool.

and that's all that needs to be said.

Mac may have the most visible role of FW, but that doesn't mean his role has any authority. All of the behind the scenes crew, director, and producers are the ones who really make the show what it is. For the whole 7.62 issue, I can totally see the prop guy buying the wrong box of rounds, and on the day of the shoot the director just tells Mac that those are the rounds we have and those are the rounds we're shooting this scene with, end of story. Mac can't exactly say no to the director. Same with other errors. The editors don't know jack about guns. They piece together a 30 minute show from hours of footage. Some things are not going to line up right. They don't care as they know less than .0001% of the viewers are even going to notice.

Mac doesn't have any say in the script, editiing or directing. And the writers, director, and editors don't know anything about guns, but they still make the final call as to what goes in the show. As far as things like shooting so targets don't go down with "normal" weapons, but taking time and care to make good shots with the featured weapons, that is probably an intentional action on the part of the director. It's the directors job to create and produce an entertaining show that highlights the featured weapons as better. Mac can either play ball and follow the director and producers, or they can just fire him and find a new puppet. It's not really up to Mac.

I tried watching it just once. That stupid whispering got me to shut it off after about 3 minutes. Is he supposed to be surrounded by Taliban or something?

He's getting warmed up for a blowout, end of the season episode where they're going to take a look at a new weapons system intended to be used to combat terrorists during golf tournaments.

I particularly like the segment on the Accuracy International .50BMG rifle. Mac pronounces the word "incendiary" in 4 different ways, in the space of about 90 seconds.

FWIW, after Mac left the service, his main gig was as a motivational speaker. I'm not really fond of his performance on TV, but from what I understand, he's one of those that have seen the elephant.

Help me out with some phonetic of different ways.. I can only come up with 2. Incendiary, IncendiAry, ?, and ?

"this is the .308 round, used by the AK47"

right after he said that in one episode i remember thinking how the hell could anyone involved with firearms (much less a navy seal whose probably shot thousands of rounds through one) get that wrong?

Dont forget fellas... The host of the show has almost NO SAY about how he delivers his lines or what is said on the show. Antalent that causes too much trouble durring a shoot (as in video) will be quickly replaced. You have no idea wht most people will do in order to stay on camera.

Every word he says is scripted. Stray from the script and the director or producer has you do it over again.....

You should all realize this already.

I enjoy seeing them cut the shot quickly when the weapons jam. Have seen that a time or two and you can see misfeeds, etc. right when he "stops" shooting.

FW is meant to be nothing but low budget TV entertainment and Mack is nothing but a paid talking head. He doesn't write the scripts and probably has little input into them. He was hired because the producers believed his background as a SEAL would bring legitimacy to the show -- and it probably does to people with little knowledge about weapons. But the frequent factual errors, misinformation, and over dramatizing, not to mention Mack's breathless, William Shatner style of narration, completely destroys all credibility among anyone with a basic understanding of weapons.

It's been pointed out a few times, and I don't think people are getting it.

Uniform Code of Military Justice has rules on mutiny against unlawful orders. There is also the protocol of asking Sir may I speak freely? or even off the record. Military logs sometines note order obeyed under protest followed by notation protest duly noted by superior officer. A former SEAL should know the UMCJ and refuse an order to say something contrary to fact or his military experience.

Because the way he does it appeals to all the little 17 year old mall ninjas that think that every word whispered to them is like a commandment handed down from God himself.

These are the same idjits who think that a "hardballer" pistol is the best handgun ever and that a Deagle is what all military personnel secretly lust after to put onto their tactical black vest.

I blame the parents for not smacking the stupid out earlier.
