The % of problems had with all handguns has always bothered me when I think of how reliable cars are. Cars that are probably 10,000 times more complicated than handguns are!

First let me state that yes, I own a 2nd gen P3AT. Yes it's been flawless in the 200 plus rounds that I've run through it. (after a good cleaning before shooting it for the first time) Yes it's my summer carry piece when I don't want to carry my PCR. Trust it 100% no, but I don't trust my PCR 100% and it's shot thousands of rounds flawlessly. NOTHING will always remain 100% perfect.. Sig, Kimber, Springfield, Beretta none!
For every one "bad" pistol we hear about on these forums, theres literally thousands we don't hear about that work fine.
A few things that I have found:
1. I will NEVER buy a rack or display case pistol. The first prints on it out of the box are mine or I don't buy it. I've seen too many clerks and customers doing things to these guns that can lead to reliability problems. Dry firing, fanning, snapping the cylinder open and closed like some sort of paperback private detective.., forceing actions ect.
2. Never feed it crappy ammo.. Some guns like certain ammo, others out of the same run will eat about anything.
3. Take internet info of any sort with a large bit of question!
4. And lastly without being there none of us have ANY idea how these guns (with problems) have been treated once they left the gun shop.
Flame suit ON!

I agree. A line of wisdom comes up from a CCW debate over the guy that stopped a KFC robbery:

"The news dosen't report it when a jet makes a safe landing."

I'll add that to my list of things for which to be thankful. Apparently, the gunstore where I go is significantly above average. Won't carry Kel-Tecs anymore? Gosh, why carry guns anymore? Sell linoleum.

I don't have a problem with a shop not stocking certin brands of weapons. Let's face it, they can't stock every brand on the market.
But I would agree that if a shop isn't willing to order what I want for me, then I will take my business elsewhere. ;)

I have a 2nd gen P-3AT. When I first got it would feed FMJ's find but would hang up 2 or 3 times on every magazine of the Black-Hills 90gr JHP that I wanted to use for carry. I sent it back to Kel-teck and it was back in less than 2 weeks with a new barrel and a polished feedramp. I've put several hundred rounds of JHP through it since getting it back and it has never had a problem, that with both the regular and +1 mags that I have for it.
