went 2 the woods yesterday, and shot some reduced loads from my remington 700. i do not have a chronograph yet, and to be truthfull, even if i did have one, i wouldn't have set it up in this weather. 2 much snow and ice. anyway, 48 grains of imr4831 w/ 165 honady sp's shot very nicely, recoil between a 30-30 and 30-06, not to much recoil or report, but enough to know you were shooting. i also tries some REALLY reduced loads, i tried 165 hornady sp with 20, 15, &10 grains of accurate #7 (pistol powder). the 20 grains shot ok, VERY LITTLE kick and report, about like shooting a 22 magnum. the 15 and 10 grain loads were way to little. the bullets made it out of the barrel, but thats about all i can say for it. they didnt build enough pressure to seal the cartridge to the chamber completely, and made a mess of my rifle. the 20 grain loads at least did seal. i also loaded some 223's ,2 of the 3 loads were fine, but one load, that was in the books was to hot for my rifle, it flattened out the primes pretty good, it was 24.0 grains of imr 3031 w/ sierra 40 gr. hollow points. if you try this, MAKE SURE you only load a few and try them. they might work fine in your gun, but they were a little to hot for mine.
