Ok, I have several Glocks of 2nd and 3rd Gen versions including both G17L and G24... Anyways, I was at my local gun store the other day and handled a G17 RTF2. Now, I don't really need one of these, but I do like the sticky grips and the fish gills. Would it be wrong to buy a G17 RTF2 for those two reasons alone? The G17 RTF2 in question is brand new and $399.99.

I have lots of Glocks too, and I came to the consensus that they aren't getting any more reliable than they already are. In fact, I've heard there are problems with the new ones... So I'm holding back. The only new one I can justify is the G19 for the wife anyway.

However, that is a VERY good price on a new Glock...

That G17L is nice, right? Mine shoots ragged holes every time. Best Glock ever.

My glock17 is a RTF2 and i love it.For $399 NIB?Thats a really good deal;Id take it.

The G17RTF2 is considered 3rd Gen. I guess I am wondering if it is wrong to buy another Glock just because I like the fish gills and sticky grips....

id buy it just cause it was a good deal! but if the gun has the features you like, then i dont see why you wouldnt want to buy it.

I had a 19rtf2. It was my only 19 at the time so I can't answer your question. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it tended to snag on my polo shirts when carrying IWB.

My rtf2 is my range gun. In that role, it is absolutely perfect. I love the grip as long as it doesn't have to contact skin other than my hand.

I love the grip as long as it doesn't have to contact skin other than my hand.

It didn't bother me to wear it IWB with no undershirt and against bare skin. My friends with love handles completely disagree with me. Either I have thick skin or the love handles cause some extra pressure and make it uncomfortable.

I would say if you never plan to carry it next to your skin or clothes you care about get it. I bought one thinking it would be used for bedroom duty and target. Now that I started carrying there is no way I would put that IWB, it would rip your skin up.

It's very grippy. Great for the range!

I have a couple of 17's with the RTF grips, I believe they are the first gen RTF's, as the raised bumps on the grip are pointy, as opposed to flattened off.

I dont find them to be to aggressive, and they are much better than the standard Gens 3's. I carry IWB, and havent found them to be any harder on my clothing than anything else. I wear a tee shirt, so bare skin isnt really an issue.

Lately Ive been stippling the other Gen 3 Glocks I have, and they are more aggressive than anything Glock has to offer. They feel like a cat tongue and dont move in your hand at all once you acquire the grip. Even as aggressive as they are, they arent a problem carrying IWB either.

The G17RTF2 is the best Glock they've ever made IMO.

I currently have a G34 and a G26, but I still regret trading that one...

Yeah, I do have several other Glocks, and am considering just keeping this one in mint unfired condition. Any idea how many RTF2s were made? Are they still being made? I hear half of the people say the RTF2s are still in production, and half say they aren't...

eah, I do have several other Glocks, and am considering just keeping this one in mint unfired condition

I love my 19 and I wish I would have kept the 17. But I wouldn't keep one unfired. It's like finding a pristine 1982 phillips head mac screwdriver. Neat, but no real value added. Shoot the thing and enjoy it. :)

Any idea how many RTF2s were made?

Nope, but many departments ordered them and they flew off the shelves....so they aren't exactly a low volume production run. I liked mine, but it just seems to me that those darn fish gills were backwards...they gripped better that way.

Are they still being made?

No idea. Glock is always mysterious (read: they rarely update the website) about their stuff. I had a gen4 17 before there was ever mention of it on the website. My understanding is that the rtf2 is discontinued unless requested in large quantities by a department. You can either get gen3 or gen4. Since I don't work for glock, I have no idea except for more rumors spread by someone else. I sold my rtf2 19 to try out the 26...which as it turns out, I'm not a fan of.

I'm not big on Glocks, but I'd be all over it for $399 just because its different from all the other blocks out there!

G17 RTF ROCKS! I love the aggressive texture... it just locks the gun into the hand. No need for stippling whatsoever. Feels fantastic. Shoots wonderfully. Bag that puppy!
