1. Can I use a G21 pre-ban hi-cap (13rds?) mag in a G30?
2. Can I do this legally in California?
3. Are these mags date-stamped, if not, how do I prove they are pre-ban, should I need to?

1- yes. G21 mags work just fine in G30s. Sleeves are made to allow the correct spacing and keep you from ramming the mag too far into the G30 well.
2- Don't know. You'll have to wait for a Californian to answer this. Given the state, I suspect there is something that will prevent you from getting them.
3- All legally imported postban mags (that means LE/Gov Only) must be stamped with wording to the effect that regular people can't have it and the date of the ban. So, by default any unmarked magazine exceeding the 10 round limit is pre-ban. As far as I know you simply can't prove that they were manufactured prior to the '94 ban.

If you legally owned that preban magazine before the California ban went into effect then there're no problems. Otherwise you have to leave the state and come to the Free Republic.

The G-30 can use G-21 mags, it just looks weird
If the magazine doesn't have a date or LEO on it then its "legal" to possess
Its up to law enforcement to prove they are illegal which would be next to impossible.
That "law" :barf: is essentially unenforceable.

you don't want to be the test case.
Even if you win, you will be very POOR!

Though moving to a gun friendly venue may not
be an option, you need to obey the rules whereever you are
