Hello Fellow Highroad Members,
I recently got a Glock mag extension Pearce PG-2733, for my G26.
http://www.pearcegrip.com/glock27.htm
The instructions state it’s a +2 extension, where as online/forums are mixed as to whether it’s actually +1 vs +2 extension .When installed I was able to fit 12rds but it’s tight. Also my G26-mags have stock springs, would I need to get extra-power mag springs from Wolf? Glock experts what’s the consensus regarding this mag extension.
Thanks,
Mike

Look on the bottom of the extension, mine are +2s and have a 12 marked on them.
No need to change springs unless a bit of rattle when fully loaded becomes annoying.

I tried a couple of the Pearce +2's and was never able to get more than 11 rounds in the mags, no matter how hard I tried. I also tried leaving the mags loaded for a period of time, as was suggested by some people, without any luck.

One thing I will suggest though, be careful when you do a mag change when seating the mags, especially when done quickly. They pinch something awful if you dont have all your "meat" out of the way. Mine also pinched while shooting.

With that, and realizing they made the gun bigger than I wanted, I quit using them. Now that I'm used to shooting them as they come, I shoot the 26 fine with the factory floor plate. Getting over the pinkie being wrapped under the gun takes a little getting used to, but once you do, its no trouble at all.

I would recommend a stiffer Wolff mag spring with the +2 extensions. Fellow on another forum had feed problems when he added the Pearce. Returned to original config and the malfunctions ceased.

If you want more firepower and you are not too concerned with concealability, check out the A&G mag sleeve. It allows the use of G19 mags (15 round). http://glockstore.com/pgroup_descrip/3_Mags+&+Extensions/6759_Magazine+Sleeve+for+Glock/

Otherwise, I would just skip the extension, add a Hogue handall rubber grip (cut-down) and learn to curl the little finger underneath the mag. It is a very natural feel for me and allows for more accurate follow-up shots. With Pearce and other extensions, I had a tendency to pull the shots low on the target. With pinkie underneath, I didn't.

FWIW, I'm able to get the full 12 rounds into my mag using the Pearce +2 extension... Used the OEM mag spring, didn't use an aftermarket/high-power mag spring.

Another alternative to the pinkie extensions: www.concealablecontrol.com

When I carry my G26, I carry with one of those and the spare mag is the Glock OEM 12-round mag.

I see some good answers here. The best is, don't use them, carry a 19 or a 17, for reload, and shoot the gun the way glock intended when they made it. It's not worth the extra round vs the higher profile. Put the talon or the suggested grip tape or rubber grip on it and it will not slip or move while shooting it. It will also help when drawing from concealment.

the GAP Enterprises floorplates AJChen mentioned are great especially for the G27 and G33 with the heavier recoil. They don't add length to the grip and they enable me to hook my ring finger on the floorplate to keep my G33 pocket rocket from squirming around in my hand.

If you dont want them to squirm, I've found this to work the best. Makes them a lot easier to grab too....

Thank you everyone for all the replies. I think I going to stick with the stock floor plates and try one of the "Finger Rest Extensions" without altering the capacity of the mag, and some hogue grips. I never even thought about the pinching while shooting :(
Thank you everyone for the replies, I will update the thread once I take her to the range.

Well, brace yourself. The shocking news continues. I don't like pinky extensions, either. I'd rather keep the grip consistent no matter what magazine I'm using. I stopped using the G23 mag sleeve for this reason. (In addition to realizing I'm never going to lug around a spare mag with a bulky extender on it, esp when I could carry a G22 mag.)

I have to agree with you GLOOB, my next purchase is likely going to be a G26. I don't like pinky extensions or "+" base plates either. I'll shoot it as is and learn its handling as is.

I use the Glock factory +2 with no problems at all. Just make sure the pistol functions properly before carrying. The older type with no locking plate can come off so make sure you get the late model ones.

I would think if would be wise for people to purchase guns that fit into their hand not just half of their hand. This would go long way to save them money and headaches.

Just buy the factory Glock G26 12 round mag with the +2 already on it. Looks good, works good. Forget aftermarket stuff that doesnt work so good.

I have Pearce +3's on my G26 mags and they work fine. I do maintain one mag in factory config for use when carrying OWB in a pancake holster.

It allows the use of G19 mags (15 round).

G19 and G17 magazines can be used in the Glock 26 without the need of anything additional.

I have a couple of magazines with Glock brand +2 extensions and the original factory springs. They have always performed without issue and I have never been pinched either re-loading or shooting. But that's me. Everybody's different.

I have 10 G17 magazines although I don't have a G17. I use them in my G19 and my G26 at the range. I carry my G26 daily with a 10 round magazine and one in the chamber in a DeSantis Nemesis holster. If I am dressed to carry in an OWB holster I carry the 26 with a 12 round magazine (10 round with +2 Glock extension), or I carry the G19.

I have 3 G17's, and 2 G19's and I just added a G26 so I'm new to it. One of the reasons why I choose the G26 was the mag interchangeability. I prefer to keep everything stock on a carry gun, however I saw a Pearce extensions on sale and decided to try one out. I guess I need to try out the OEM 12rds from Glock and get used to adapting with my little finger. Regardless it carries very well,
Mike
