I'd like some opinions on the Glock 30 SF,accuracy, recoil recovery ect.
I have a friend that is new to carry and he is a large guy and will only carry OWB,he bought the 30 and says it prints to much and he wants to trade me
for my XDS 45.I do not need the it for carry I have several others if it proves to fat.My EDC is for the most part a G19,I have large and small 1911's and a few 9mm Glocks, kahrs,CZ,and I also have the XDS 9.
I have never shot the 30SF and would like opinons on the pistol.

Personally, I like the 30. I wanted a double stack .45 for carry. I was concerned with the size. So, I did a lot of research on it and other makes and models before I bought it. The size differences were nominal (IMHO). I don't have any issues with carry IWB or OWB. I use High Noon holsters and have another IWB ordered from Andrews Leather.

As to performance I don't pay a lick of attention to recoil. The pistol is as accurate as I can shoot it and the ammunition I run through it. I can actually shoot my 36 better. Everyone has different likes and dislikes and opinions as to various pistols, and it comes down to personal preference and abilities. The 30 is a reliable pistol that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

I like mine.

My Gen3 30SF is one of two guns my wife picked up for the first time and put a series of holes into a palm-sized group in the center of a paper plate at 21'. The other was my Gen3 23.

It's not a particularly lightweight gun when fully loaded and the width of the grip's back strap does a good job of spreading and mitigating recoil energy. Wife and I both find it comfortable to shoot and very controllable.

Accuracy is on a par with other similar combat 45 ACPs.

Glock 30sf

I own a Glock 30 Generation 2.5 (without light rail). I don't have any issues with recoil and can shoot it as easily as my Glock 23 (.40).

I am a big guy too and have a hard time carrying IWB, so I have to carry OWB with a shirt or jacket covering. It is thick but there's so much stopping power there; I am satisfied that I am not out gunned unless there are many multiple targets or I am facing an AR15 at some distance.

Having 10 rounds of .45acp at my side is comforting to me.

G30 SF is one of the softest shooting 45s I have experienced. I would consider it even or perhaps slightly softer than the HK 45c (which has a recoil suppressor).

It is accurate and quick to get back on target. The SF frame give minimal improvement to the reach of the trigger.

I'm a small guy with small hands and short fingers. A traditional grip makes reaching the trigger difficult for me. However, I am accustomed to holding the gun slightly off center to allow for my little sausages to reach the trigger to engage the safety.

I'm sufficiently accurate with it and have actually carried it.

I can’t speak to the accuracy or recoil issues, but I have and carry a G29SF.

I carry it openly and concealed- printing may be an issue but I’m indifferent. If someone thinks they see something, meh, good for them. The law here doesn’t require absolute concealment, or any concealment for that matter. My CPL only *allows* concealed carry, it doesn’t demand it.

All in all I think you’d like the G30. There are enough rounds in the handle that you can skip the extra magazine if you want.

I have owned and shot both the 30 and the 30SF. Everything about one applies to the other. My glove size is 8. Both felt just fine, and the minimal difference in the trigger reach was quickly forgotten. My guess is, Glock responded with the SF to the perceived demand from female LE officers and perhaps civilians. A fantastic handgun either way. To shoot it well, a strong grip is preferred. It is true for all Glocks but especially with a stubby grip frame. It may seem too much to an XD owner, but the adjustment should be quick considering the similarities. The Glock seems to have a lower bore axis which at least in theory reduces the muzzle flip. (I've also practiced with a .45 XD, and again didn't see much difference) Good luck
