I ordered and today received my Galco Matrix holster for my Springfield Armory 1911 9mm. Model PX9505L.

I really like the fit and feel of the holster.

BUT....

When an attempt to draw is made it takes two hands and A LOT of effort. I almost ripped the belt loops from my pants.

Dang thing fits so tight that it's UNSAFE to use.

If been working with it for a few hours. It seems the front edge of the eject port is shaving Kydex from the holster. So after an increase in squeeze pressure and working the gun in and out several dozen times it was beginning to improve. So out to the shop I went and got after it with some 150 grit sand paper on a dowel and a narrow wood chisel. After that I rubbed some saddle soap on the inside.

So far it is much improved. I can actually draw and only move my pants up about 3 inches.

I e-mailed Galco and asked what they recommend. One the the draw backs to this rig is the outer shell also is the molded mounts with belt loops. The inner shell just covers the gun and is riveted to the outer. When it is placed on the hip the mount increases tension on the gun. It would have been much better the opposite way with a tension screw.

IMHO
