Texas, baby!
Just heard an add today, on the radio, that here in Houston, all guns that they have clearanced will have price dropped even lower, and will go on sale this thursday through sunday. I am assuming this is nationwide, but you may wanna check with your local store. Too bad, there is also a gunshow at Reliant this weekend.

I guess this means that now Gander's guns will be about the same price as Sportsman's Warehouse?

Seriously, man, Gander always seems to be 20%-30% over everyone else, including the little shops. And the counterpeople are almost universally inept in my experience.

I find that to be just the opposite in my area. Gander's used guns are priced a bit too high, generally speaking. They do however always have the best price around on anything new around here. but then, everything here in NY does seem to be priced higher than any other listings I see in general.

I find Gander to be all over the map, pricewise. Some of their guns are expensive, but they do have Mossberg 500's for $199, which is the cheapest I've seen them anywhere.

Dont they price match on all. I bought 2 597s for my sons for Christmas with the chameleon stock. Gander had them for 199 and i couldnt find that color stock anywhere else. 2days later i saw an ad at Dicks for 149 with an OD stock. The pic looked like the chameleon though. I went in and asked Gander mtn if this was the same gun they had for 199. Guy left and came back and said it was. I told them i bought 2 2days ago at 199. He said take the ad to the front and i got back 108 dollars. I was also in there the other day and saw a gentlemen interested in a CZ 375 HH. He asked the guy if it was the best they could do on the price and the guy said wait a minute. Came back and said they could cut it like 30-40dollars. He said it was 30.00 over what they paid for it. It might have to do with that caliber not being a big seller around here. Other guns ive heard guys ask about they wouldnt come down though.

my experience as well

I stopped by today. The clearance stuff is mostly winter clothing.

Why Are They Having a Sale???

The big Houston Gun Collector's Association Gun Show is at the Reliant Center this weekend. Gander is just trying to get as much business as they can from people who didn't know that. :)

There are a bunch of them in NY and PA, I don't think there are any EAST or north of NY though.

EDIT: Edited west to east, I meant east, just a 'lil slip of the brain

You got extremely lucky you got an inept salesman. The chameleon 597 is only available through Gander Mountain.LOL

Ours is hit or miss. Some of the new stuff is priced right. Others are high. Almost all of their used guns are overpriced as well.

At least and probably alot more in my area. I just took a woman to buy her first gun-Lady Smith .38spl- and we ended up buying it at a small local store
for $80 less! brand new and the small store owner even threw in a free box of +P ammo.
Bushmaster M4 goes for about $1000 and a used mini 14 that saw today was $699 :what:

I thought it was just Houston area stores. I heard an add on the radio. I have no idea if any sales are nationwide. See my last post. :)

I happened to call the Gander Mountain store 20 miles away (the only one in FL) to see what .22LR rifles they had in stock. The guy on the phone told me they had a ruger 10/22 for $160, is that right? I thought the 10/22 normally goes for $250+ in these parts. I may swing by there tomorrow to check it out, just in case the guy wasn't mistaken.

I've personally visited a Gander Mtns. in northwest Wisconsin. First time I heard of them, and a good while before they built stores in the Houston area.

I agree with that. They had the cheapest price, BY FAR, on .40S&W duty ammo that I have ever seen in the Houston area. They had a surprising number of pistol mags IN STOCK, including XD mags (which no one else had, at the time). That was a few years back, but I remembered that.

They also carried stuff you couldn't find at Academy, Oshman's, or hoity toity REI ;-).

starting tommorrow, all WEAPONS, that end in.97, will be either furter price reduced, or you take that price that shows on the tag, and take an additional 50 dollars off. i got some Fabulous deals, about 3 weeks ago, on a little preview of this. Bought a marlin 917m2 in laminate stainless, for 219. normally a 300 dollar rifle.

Thats what i thought. The Dick's AD said OD in fine print and i didnt think it was the same but i wasnt going to argue. ;)

Stainless model?

I bought my wood and blue 917M2 for $199 3 months after they began shipping. The stainless models were more. $259, IIRC. This was at Dave's Guns in Denver.
