Hey guys, I have what might be a good deal of Korean corrosive M2 for the Garand at a good price.
Before I buy it I want to know-
Besides hot soapy water and good scrubing the cleaning is the same right?
I don't want to have to take the bolt apart if it requires that much extra cleaning.
And as long as it's field stripped and cleaned with the hot soapy water, dried, the CLPed, there corrosive will not cause any long term (or short term) for that matter damage?
If it matters it is the Korean surplus.
Thanks alot.

You probalby have a line on some KA headstamped Korean ammo which is supposed to be corrosive.

Clean the gun extra good, first with windex or something else water based to knock down the salts and then follow your standard cleaning routine.

I stip my bolt just in case when firing the corrosive stuff so I can't tell you if not stipping will cause problems. I also take the rifel compeltely apart but I do that when I clean my garands anyways so no big deal.

I use Eds Red to clean up after shooting corrosive ammo. Brush the barrel good, run a few patches down it and go about my business as usual. I wipe the bolt down, sometimes spray it with brake cleaner.

Eds Red isnt a product you buy, but a recipe you mix yourself - I think I have about $12 in a gallon of the stuff. Google for the recipes, there are many variations.

I shoot the Korean ball in my M1 Garand - works great and its already loaded on strippers......I like strippers. :D
