first off, I have googled, and googled all morning and have been reading all the info I've found. I also searched THR on scope mounts, got 12 pages of results, and I did read every one that was about Garands.

I want a mount that is offset to the left to allow normal loading. also would prefer the rear sight to stay on, and be usable while the scope is mounted.

I don't know if there is such a thing, but I just thought I would ask. I have been reading about s&k, b-square, CMP, and griffin & howe, and maybe others that I can't remember.

I'd like something that looks similar to an original M1D mount.

for the purists out there, I am a purist too. I've never modified any milsurp in any way, and I don't want to :)

I find in my old age, almost 48, I need at least a little magnification to shoot rifles.

any suggestions for Garands? I'd love some pics too.

He is my suggestion DONT DO IT

I bought every add-on mount I could find over a two year period to mount a scope on my M1. Not one of them are worth a damn.

I have given them all away, reinstalled a NM rear sight, and shoot the crap out of it.

The original "D" mount is the best option, if you must scope a Grand.

Im older than you, and I can see thru the NM sight to 200 yards just fine. I build a M700 and mounted the M1 scope on it. For when I wish to reach out and touch
