HEllo, My C&R license hopefully will arrive in the next month. I already have a list made up of what I want...Need I mean... But, Now I am wanting a Garand or Springfield through the CMP. I'll have about $450 in April saved up. So my question... Should I hold off on the C& R stuff and go with the CMP ? If I do that sould it be a 1903 or Garand? Whatever I get I will keep FOREVER!!! So, I'm not to concerned about the Value going up a lot. Are the Danish Garands good deals? I could get a Service grade or a US rack grade.. What should I do? Will the SKS market dry up if I skip it for now? HELP!!!!

IMO,

You should use the C&R to get an Yugo SKS right away and apply for the CMP Garand. You'll be shooting the SKS for a couple of months before the Garand comes anyway. In the meantime you can save up the $150 you spent on the SKS.

Get a US Garand, service grade.

Then save up more for the 03 in the Summer.

I would say Garand first because the Garand is a better rifle in my opinion. Then again those 1903's might not be around forever either. So it is a true dilmia. I highly recommend the Garand. I just used the credit card and went into debt for a Garand, a 1903 and a 1903A3 all at the same time. :D

It is a crapshoot on the '03s. I have not ordered one, but have seen some pretty good ones, and also some real dogs. The M1 rifles generally are in good shape, though most have been rebuilt at least once.

Your C&R (collectors license) is valid for any GI M1 rifle (Garand). Later rifles, like the Springfield Armory, Inc., models or the CAI imports are not C&R items.
