Has anyone heard of such a thing on an SKS? A good buddy of mine has an SKS, with a broken safety lever, he swears that the Yugo SKS has had only about 200 rounds thru it but it hangs up after shooting the Wolf ammo thru it. It won't eject. He stated he sprayed some kind of sealant over the gas piston and it fired about 25-30 rounds without a problem, but then went back to failing to eject. Note I've got a safety lever ordered, and will install it as soon as it gets here, but I'm concerned with the so called gas leak? I've inspected the rifle and have not seen any evidence of excess carbon or blow back on any of the rifles intended surfaces. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Note I don't intend to shoot it until the safety gets here and is installed. He somehow broke the safety off while trying to disassemble the rifle, what can I say? Only God knows what else he did to it.

I thank ya kindly RC, I tried the search on this subject and came up with nothing. I just put it in my favorites so as soon as I get the safety lever, I'll fashion an O-ring for it and go from there. Once again I thank you.

I would be suspect of the "sealant" he sprayed. It very likely could of gummed up the piston.

I just have these visions of the Flex Seal commercials. The "handyman in a can" will get your SKS up and running again! We'll even double the offer if you call now! But wait, there's more! Free stripper clip with purchase!

Strange. The gas tube on my Romy is loose, but it's always functioned 100%. And I'm not about to replace it because the metal finish has some beautiful honest wear on it that is impossible to duplicate.

fireman, you really made me laugh on that one. I do believe I'll ask him if he wants to go the extra money for that gas valve from Murrays,($21.00). I thank you all for responses.
