Of all the threads I have studied that show the cutting of the recoil shield to allow for a gated Kirst Konversion to load a cylinder in frame, I have not seem (to my recollection) any photos of the frame of an 1860 that is notched for the shoulder stock after it has been modified for the gate.
Some photos showing the modified frame from different aspects (also with & without the gate/backplate installed) will help me get a better idea about whether I'm interested in using the Kirst Konverter for this particular frame type.
It would seem as if there will be next to nothing of the bottom of the recoil shield left after the cutting (or might as well not be anyhow).
The lack of good photos leaves me wondering if any remnants of that lower horn are left around the gate hinge area, -or- if it is actually done away with entirely.
