I have been looking at purchasing a new Gen 4 Glock. I often times use lead bullets from Missouribullet.com and was hoping to be able to use them in the new pistol. From what I have read it no longer has polygonal rifling but I am wondering if anyone else has seen this and can verify that it would be safe to shoot lead bullets from it.

edit: Btw, It shows it to be hexagonal rifling on the website.
That is polygonal rifling. A hexagon is a polygon.

This does not necessarily preclude you from shooting lead bullets. You just have to pay more and particular attention to cleaning.

The problem with shooting lead reloads is not the polygonal (hexagonal - there are six rounded hills/valleys) coated smooth rifling, but the loose chamber and less case base support in the ramp area.

Gen3/Gen4 barrels have "better/more" case bottom support than Gen1/Gen2 barrels, but the chambers are still loose enough to cause bulged "Glocked" cases when the powder charge is near max or hot loads.

FYI, I use Lone Wolf replacement and conversion barrels in my G22/G27 and use 5%-10% less max powder charge with no leading from lead bullets and no bulged Glocked cases. The LW barrels have slightly better case bottom support than Gen3 Glock barrels, but not by much.

The guys at SW Shooting Authority just invented a product that they claim they have tested and it eliminates lead issues in glocks. I urge you to give them a call and talk to them about it. They are good guys (and no I dont work for them)

The product is called PB blocker I think its in the 19.99/bottle range.

I shoot Precision Bullets (aka "Black Bullets") and Black Bullet International bullets in my glocks. It is basically a lead bullet with polymer coating. There is still a little leading, but not as much as with uncoated lead. The black bullets are attractive due to getting them a lot cheaper than copper plated/jacketed.

Plus, I just tried out the chore boy scouring pads with my bore brush and it really works great at removing the leading.

FMJ- what makes you think PB blocker is snake oil? I don't own glocks so I have not ordered any from them but I have dealt with Cope and Jason several times and they have been great guys and never steered me wrong. If you have some new info I would love it but just because a couple of gunsmiths came out with a new product to solve a common problem does not make them snake oil salesmen.
