Gen2 glock

Gen3 pistols have a slightly retextured frame, a thumb rest groove, and finger grooves on the front strap.

I prefer the gen.2 over the gen.3s since they don't have the finger grooves.Especially in the G19.Buy it if its in good shape.

For the most part yes, a trigger bar/ ejector Assy. From my third gen 34 will slide right into my second gen 19. The difference is an extra pin for the 3rd gen slide stop/block, finger grooves, thumb divit, rail for a laser/ light:banghead:And a more aggressive texture. I will say I love my 3rd gen flocks but I carry my 2nd gen g19 more than any other gun I own.

My recent purchase of a gen2 19 is what made me understand why people so love Glocks. Damned good pistol and I love shooting it - even the 127 gr +P+ I carry. No misfeeds or malfunctions yet. Still only in the hundreds of rounds by me, I'll admit, but I have no reservations about it at all. I have tried to limp wrist it and still have it feed fine. I can make a 1911 stovepipe on command.

As a revolver shooter I put a NY1 spring and a 3.5 connector on it. That gives a smooth & consistant 5.5~6 lb pull that is very similar to a DAO revolver. Best of both worlds.

Gen 2 Glock 21 on the left; Gen 3 on the right. I actually like the grip on the Gen 2 better. :)

Gen 2 Glock 17 on the left; Gen 3 on the right....Same story..the Gen 2 feels better in my hand. I've owned both these Gen 2s since 1992...

Internally pretty much the same. Most the the changes are the external things mentioned.

Like some other posters - I personally prefer the Gen2 grip more as I absolutely loathe finger-grooves on a gun. To me its like the manufacturer trying to tell me in a one-size fits all approach exactly where my fingers should be rather than letting me decide for myself. My only Glock is a Gen2 Glock 17.

There's one for sale near by...one of my buddies said it was a gen 2 one said he thought it was a first gen....price is 399.$....it does have the safty trigger if that helps?

I also prefer the gen II grip,I have a gen II 17 and bought a gen III.
I latter sold the gen III it was a good pistol just did not feel as good in my hand.I would pick up a gen II 19 in a heart beat for the right price.

I hear you. While I don't mind the grooves on my Gen 3 G17 - they fit my hand well - the ones on G19 don't, which is why I chose the former. I wish Glock didn't mold these grooves at all. Or did they make it to help with ATF points ?

The first gen has a pretty distinctly different texture on the grip, no rail like the 2nd, two pins, only the models 17, 18, and probably 17L were available.

The easiest to spot difference is that the Gen 1 lacked the grenade texture on the front and backstraps.

The Gen 1 also wasn't originally designed to use the slide stop to release the slide when it was locked to the rear...so the slide wasn't hardened in that area. It was designed to release the slide by pulling back on it...either overhand or by slingshotting it

One major difference between the Gen 2's and the Gen 3's and 4's is you don't have to listen to people belly aching that their Gen 2's aren't cycling properly. I prefer the Gen 2's to any of the other varieties.
