Mcb has a thread on his new CRKT CEO, which got me thinking about “gentlemen’s” knives. Can you fine connoisseurs of blades recommend some small gentlemen’s knives under $60?

In addition to my new CRKT CEO. I have always like the Buck Prince, Squire, Duke line of knives and they have always seemed at home in a pair of dress pants.

I have carried a Prince off and on especial when required to wear more formal clothing. It was a gift from my bother for being in his wedding.

That's a tough ask without explaining what you consider a "gentleman's knife".
To me you'd be looking for something pocketable, natural or exotic scales, slim, but you'll have a devil of a time finding something under $60.

Case makes a pocket worn bone single blade lockback or two that would fit.

Boker has bone handled lockbacks that will work.

Gerber and some other companies are offering copper and brass bodied/scaled folders like the Affinity.

Civivi has some carbon fiber handle knives like the Baklash that are classy tech.

Ontario's Ultrablue Ti framelock is a shockingly good deal.

There are tons of wood scale/handled knives that fall below $60. Everything from an olive wood Opinel to a desert ironwood Schrade to a Guibourtia Buck, to the cocobolo Hiroaki.

I bought my father a small case knife with the mother of pearl handles years ago it was the toothpick. It was not $60 but they can be had for under $60 with different handles.

Zippo made a similar knife that was really really good. It was a bit heftier because the blade had a taller spine and the frame followed to fit the blade. They made a small change to the pattern in the late 80s or early 90s to follow the trend of thinner spines and the knives just don’t seem nearly as nice. The one my dad had was a promo knife from the Holderfield Battery Company and we have casually tried to find one the same exact pattern for the better part of 2 decades. For a small locker that was the perfect knife. There are many that are good. A few that are great. That knife seems like a unicorn and that exact setup was near perfection.

Google "A G Russell", on web site clear filters, go to traditional knives, go to all folders. Take your choice of over 70 pocket knives displayed under $60. Your satisfaction guaranteed, No quibbles. The only place to find a knife I would give away to a friend or family member.

You might be able to find something in a smaller traditional Case knife. Some of the Swiss Army Knives might qualify too. But other than that you're going to struggle to find anything of any quality much under $100 let alone $60. Most everything under $100 either uses cheap steel, is made in China or both.

Well over your budget at about $140, but this is a good combo or classic styling and modern features.

My Dad about wore out a little all-stainless knife, blades ground down, lanyard loop (watchfob bail?) gone. I bought him the Case equivalent, but he kept carrying the old worn one.
