Are there any good rifle ranges in Georgia? All the experience I have is the 50 yard indoor ranges at range and guns and those are super loud and hot. Anything on the Nortside?

lately,i've been going to WMA ranges.

only 100yds.(lost hunting lease:mad: )

where abouts do you live?

The only one I've tried to physically track down was up a WMA up around Gainesville. Got to the "Turn onto the dirt road" portion of the directions and my Neon mysteriously wouldn't go down the road. I guess it was afraid of getting lost in the potholes.

Other than that, the only one's I can find any reference to are members-only clubs. The range River Bend Club (http://www.rbgc.org/map.htm for directions) looks decent, but it's a little far away from Lawrenceville for me, so I haven't checked it out yet.

On the other hand, if you do find something, spread the word!

There's a couple of ranges in Carroll county. One in Temple (public) and one in Carrollton (private but membership is only $80 a year).

I also know of another public range near Franklin in Heard county.

PM me if you want more info.

The Riverbend guys are about 10 minutes down the road from me, although I've never been there.

I usually go to English Range on Ft. Benning; $50/yr membership, 500 yards max, steel plates at 200, 300, and 360 (I think; sleep deprivation has ruined my memory at the moment) Details at www.rpcrange.com

There is 100yard rifle range at South River Private Gun range just East of Atlanta. They are mostly visited by skeet shooters, and their membership fee is +200!:what: I can't think of other ones near Atlanta.

Wow everybody! I had no idea there wer that many places here. Athens seems kinda a long drive but I will definately check out some of the other places.

Thanks everyone!

We actually have a 300 yard rifle range at South River along with over a dozen pistol pits in assorted sizes ranging up tp 75 yards deep and a training pit designed for class instruction and extensive trap and skeet fields and your $250 a year entitles you to use them 365 days a year from 9:00AM till dark.:)

I usually go up to the Wilson Shoals WMA range up 85/985 a ways. About an hour from here (Lilburn as well). I've gone up to the WMA range at John's Mountain WMA I think it was called as well while visiting a buddy up that way. It's up 75 near-ish Rome. Somewhere inbetween these two is also another WMA range IIRC, but I haven't been there.

I like these WMA ranges since they are unsupervised, no snooty range officer to be annoying as they usually are or rules about "1 shot every 2 seconds" or other such crap. Can shoot at clay pigeons, empty ammo boxes, etc and other similar non glass/metal targets (as long as you clean up afterwards). More fun than a uptight range that only allows standard paper targets...

That Athens range is in my home county of Oglethorpe. (at least that's what I can estimate from the directions) I think I'm gonna try that place out.

ps TACO STAND ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's River Bend Gun Club out Dawsonville way. They're membership only, but they have a couple of pistol bays, shotgunning facilities and a 600-yd rifle range.

RBGC Member here. They host SAS events, action pistol, action rifle, and a bunch of other shooting sports. I use to goto GA Range and Guns but hate shooting indoors. This is my 3rd yr at RB and I've really enjoyed it.

pinetree64,

Couldn't help but notice that you're in Cumming. Did you ever do your gun shopping at Forsyth County Pawn Shop before Larry sold the place to its current owners?

I usually go to the Jacks river falls/Cohutta wilderness out door range. Only 100yrds though.

pine tree, hey neighbor I live down the road from you in Sugar Hill just across the river. Small world!
