German made 226 slide

I transferred a 1995 Sig Sauer P226 at the local gun store which I bought on line and had delivered there.

The pistol is in great condition. I have a question about an x stamped on the slide directly below the serial number on the slide.

Does anyone have any idea what this X signifies? I have taken a picture of it, but unfortunately I do not know how to transfer it to the web.


Any help would be appreciated.

My JK 1989 dated P226 W German does not have an X under the serial number on the slide as you describe. I can't see your picture. I'm sure someone will be along soon who knows.

Could be a replacement slide for the gun (the original being replaced for some reason).
