Get a 9mm carbine, .357 lever, or stick with my M-1 carbine?

I know that I would love an AR in a pistol caliber.

if not that, that beretta CX4 thing is pretty handy, I've never shot one but I've held a couple and they feel pretty good, nice and light and short.

I'm not a big fan of 9mm, but out of a long barrel it'd give .357 a run for it's money, and that .30 carbine is just about .357 territory.

I suggest the .357 lever for a simple paranoid reason...insurance. If some sort of weapons ban ever comes along it is not likely to affect your .357 lever rifle which is plenty accurate, powerful and versatile to be your primary longarm.

Marlin 1894

I recommend both, since you are keeping the M1 carbine the 1894 in .357 mag is a nice complement. Both are in my closet and in a SHTF situation, the biggest problem would be picking which one to use.

I'm looking at my first rifle right now, and really do like what the 1894 .357/.38 has to offer. Though I think I'm gonna get a millitary syled rifle first just in case things change over the next couple of months or years.

(Figure I should always be able to get the 1894).

Frandy - in your case I don't think you can go wrong with either the Beretta (you already have the mags) or Marlin (as a companion to the revolver).
