It's still on it's way, but it's a Ruger Security Six 4" .357, made in 1976 so it's marked "Made in the 200th Year of American Liberty." Took me a while to find that one!

An SR22, after fondling it a couple days prior to Christmas.

In the week prior, a used S&W 5903 SA/DA 9 mm with a spare 6xx 3 1/2 slide, barrel, rod and spring, so the full size and the compact in one!
I shall name her Sybil.

Santa came a little early for me. I acquired this in a trade the week before Christmas

A few days before Christmas I bought a Remington 700 Tactical while shopping with the wife. It was a special order that the customer never came back for. Since the store was having a sale on rifles, and Remington offered an additional rebate, I couldn't resist. I would post a pic but my son took it out today to sight in the scope.

McWilliams, you got what I really wanted. I have been trying to buy an older Walther PPK for a while. My uncle has a Walther PP or PPK not sure which, but it is .22 rimfire. He has had it for 20 + years and it never fired? I have begged him to name his price. It is SS finish.

While not technically a Christmas "present", I did get myself an HK P30 V1 LEM 9mm in time for Christmas. Hit the range on the 26th with it.

Yes -- I was good. I got a Glock 20 in 10 mm. I just received in the mail 2 extra magazines, and UPS just delivered 100 rounds of Double Tap ammo. The Best Christmas in a while.

Week before christmas, went to local big box store to get a safe. After asking an emplyee about delivery and waiting for them to check their stock I saw a 3" sp101 in the display case. I've been looking for the 3" sp101 for over a year now locally with no luck. The second the employee came back, before he even said anything about the safe, I told him I want that 3" sp101in the case. He immediately went and took it out for me and told me he'd hold on to it in case there weren't anymore in stock. He then went and checked in back again (this time for another 3" sp101). When he came back, he said it was a good thing he nabbed it as it was the last one. It came home with me right then and there.

Ahh, well... brought some safe queens to LGS for consignment - wife is happy that gun money will be coming in instead of always going out

So, saw a nice CZ SxS 12 ga on the rack - on layaway until derringer sells.
Did a transfer for a LH CZ 452 .17 hmr - she's home and driving tacks! :D
Have a DW VBOB on order - expected after New Year

Plan was (is) to sell the queens to fund a nicer breed - hence the VBOB - problem is...couldn't wait for them to sell!!! :neener:

I guess you could say I got a gun(s) for Xmas....

Happy New Year All

Two, or technically three. My wife got me a Pietta 1851 "Pimp Special .44" for my birthday back in August. For Christmas, she completed the pair and added the 5½" "Marshall" model.

Couple weeks before that I got a custom flintlock .54cal pistol.

My first shotgun - a Mossberg 535. Certainly not a specialty piece like some of you have, but just right for a relatively new shooter. :)

Yep. A new-to-me S&W model 64-5 4" HB DOA revolver.

Bought it from another THR member. There's a thread in the Revolver forum about it.

How well do they shoot ? I used to think I'd like BP shooting, but after more info, decided I probably was too lazy . Most of the ranges around here don't allow BP shooting . Still like the idea though, but I'm older and more lethargic .:)

Don't know how well those particular guns shoot but plan to find out shortly. I just got an other 10lbs of Goex to put a dent in. A good percussion revolver will do 3" at 25yds. Sometimes better, sometimes worse. They're a lot of fun to shoot but it is a good deal of effort to clean them. One of many reasons why the cartridge conversions appeal to me so much.

I've seen some new cartridge conversion ads, and I'd like more info about these. Could you supply some info on sources, what's available, etc. on these BP "look alike" cartridge shooters ? Thanks:)

I'm in a hurry but long story short, back before new dedicated cartridge guns came about, manufacturers like Colt and Remington set out to convert their existing percussion guns to fire cartridges. These are more or less replicas of those guns from a very short period in history. For Colt, this was between the 1860 and the Single Action Army. Colt's first dedicated cartridge gun was based on the 1860 but was built on a new dedicated frame. I'd recommend Dennis Adler's book on metallic cartridge conversions. It's out of print but not too expensive.

Some quick names to Google are Charles Richards (designed first conversion for Colt), William Mason (revised Richards' design and designed the SAA) and Rollin White (sold the patent for bored through chambers to S&W, expired in 1869).

I got a Buckmark camper for Chrsitmas

My wife bought me a Buckmark camper with the stainless steel barrel.
I am dying to shoot it. Does anyone know where I can walk around in some woods in the Austin area and target practice?
