Getting coating off a barrel

My Sig 226 and 229 are well shot at this point, and the black factory coating is about half worn on both. Its just an aestetics thing, but I'd rather it didn't look so shoddy. What's the best way to get it off and just have a shiny barrel? Is there an attachment in my Dremel kit that might work?

I would not suggest a Dremel, unless you cut the power cord off first.

Try some Simichrome polish and ellbow grease.

Unlike a Dremel tool, you can do no harm with it.
