I think Bunny Slayer is right. Instead of buying an LCR .22LR and trying to shoot the low-powered 36-40 gr ammo out of a 1.82-inch barrel, consider the Single-Six in stainless. When I was in school, I couldn't afford to shoot my Ruger Security-Six, so I spent my remaining $62 (from a telescope sale) on a nickle-plated RG single action .22LR revolver that weighed about as much as the toy cap pistol I had as a kid. I put it in a gun pouch with a screwdriver (for the grips) and two boxes of ammo, and put it next to the spare tire of my brother's car. Then, when the mood struck me, I'd head up the canyon road, find a spot and shoot. It was such a crappy pistol that I sold it and bought a Ruger Mark I Standard Auto for $91. Fantastic piece and very accurate, but I found that I missed that RG. So years later, when I couldn't stand it, I sprang for the Ruger Single-Six. It's a great gun, as others have noted, and having that magnum cylinder gives you two great calibers to choose from.
My sister bought an SRT-101 in .22LR and though it's a nice gun, it doesn't hold much appeal for me. It's not nearly as fun or as useful as the S&W 63 “Kit“ Gun I used to own. But there's a lot to choose from.
